This was my number 1 baby name but because where we are from we have been told her name will be pronounced 'Ela-deh' or everyone will keep asking if her name is Melodie. such a shame cause I am in love with the name it's just everyone else who is so negative, baby due in 9 weeks and still no name!!

Love it! Though speaking from experience, you will find that it confuses/stumps some people, usually older generation. For those people I usually explain it's pronounced like melody without the m.

I personally find it rather twee and a bit nothingy, I feel like it is in the same vein as lots of other girls names and they all merge into one. I don't find it a very beautiful or weighty name for a grown woman.

That said if you like it that's what matters, it's not a dreadful name.

I'm surprised that I quite like this name as it isn't my usual type of preferred name ( those being Elizabeth, Catherine, Eleanor etc). It's quite trendy ( I'm sure I first heard it on The Hills ! ).
But yes I do like it.

I think Elodie is pretty and having spent my life in corporatesville I'd say it's also a weighty name.
