Rosanna - 5 prefer Rosemary.
Alice - good name but ‘overused’ ? 4
Lucia -no 1 along with Lydia I like this a lot.
Scarlett - joint 6
Helena - no 2 some pronunciations issues may be a pita?
Tansy - bit ‘wet’ ? Not a strong name. Joint 6
Thea - joint 6 although I’m a bit mixed about this ranking.
Congrats and good luck op.

Alice 10 - love. Timeless classic.
Scarlett 9.5 - lovely. Suits all ages. Pretty but cool. Not too popular.
Roseanna 7.5- lovely. I'd use nn Anna- which I love.
Helena 6.5 - Pronunciation issues. Lane-a or len-a. Otherwise nice.
Cicely 6- Ok. Different although rising in popularity I think.
Thea 4 - a bit of a nothing name to me. More a sound. A bit faddy at the mo.
Lucia 3 - No
Tansy 1- Definitely No.

Oops! Forgot Thea. Which I used to love but agree with a pp that now its so popular it does seem a bit... Insubstantial. It's one of those names that would be gorgeous if rare but loses its charm when so popular.

I'd choose Alice or Tansy

Alice is streaks ahead of the others for me.
Scarlett and Thea are both ok but seem quite popular.
Cicely - do you mean Cecily??
The others I don't like at all.

Of those I would only pick Helena (my middle name!) or Alice.

Cicely - I love Cecily but not quite as keen on Cicely. It might grow on me if I knew one though
Rosanna - I'm not keen
Alice - nice, safe, predictable but pretty
Lucia - I really like this but the pronunciation issues would definitely put me off
Scarlett - it's ok. I prefer it with one t.
Helena - lovely
Tansy - not at all keen
Thea - absolutely love this.

I would go for Thea, Helena or Cicely.

Cicely - nice but will get spelt Cecily which is too Cecil-y for my liking
Rosanna - nice
Alice - would use it
Lucia - Loosha, Loo-see-a or Lootcha?
Scarlett - ok
Helena - prefer Helen
Tansy - ok
Thea - don't liike

Alice, Cicely or Rosanna

Cicely - like a lot, but will get muddled with the even nicer Cecily
Rosanna - gorgeous, my favourite 'rose' name
Alice - love it, classic and simple
Lucia - OK, but prefer Lucy
Scarlett - not as classy as the above
Helena - nice, but has three possible pronunciations
Tansy - a sweet nickname, but too twee for a name in its own right. It also just autocorrected to Randy on my tablet Grin
Thea - no, it's a horrid, nothingy, lispy name.

I like Tansy and Lucia best. Cicely is an awful mouthful. Not keen on Thea because I knew a horrible one. Alice, Scarlett and Roseanna are nice enough though.

I love Cicely, was on my list. Cicely Hamilton was a feminist and suffragist and I fell in love with this name when I saw it.

Lucia second favorite.

Lucia and Helena are my favourites, beautiful names!

The rest I quite like as well apart from Tansy, Scarlett, and Alice, which I'm really not keen on.

Helena or Thea

Report
partyatthepalace · 09/06/2021 00:40
  1. Helena - elegant, great history, minor irritation over varied pronunciation but can’t really go wrong
  2. Rosanna - lovely but blurs with all the other Rose names
  3. Lucia - not mad about it but it has spirit
  4. Alice - a charming classic but way overused

  1. Scarlett - I half like it but it’s gone downmarket
  2. Thea - meh
  3. Cicely - no - lipsy - but I would put Cecily of Cecilia at number 1
  4. Tansy - no, wetter than Poppy and Lily, which is saying something.
