What are your thoughts on Faye and Nell? Which do you prefer and why?

Thanks!

I absolutely adore Faye. It's similar to dd's middle name so I am very biased.

I would go with Faye. I always think Nell is a nickname amd deserves another option such as Eleanor or Penelope. Plus you will get the inevitable Nelly the elephant

I like Faye, too.
I don't mind Nell if it's short for Helen, but I appreciate you might not like Helen.
Nelly is awful. I know a Nella. It sounds made up.

Nell by a million miles. Faye is very dated - 80s - and a specific demographic.

I don’t normally like nn names but I love Nell. It’s very pretty and has historic associations - Nell Gwyn.

Around me, Nell is a really common name for working dogs on the farms (usually Border Collies) so it puts me off naming a child that. Faye is uncommon but lovely.

Love Nell - although as a nn for Eleanor/Helena or Penelope rather than a full name. It’s quite popular though.

Faye is less popular - but I think it’s wet, weak and dated.

Fae or Helen, Ellen or Eleanor for Nell

Nell is so cool!

Agree with the PP who said Faye is wet, weak and dated.

Faye is lovely.

I don't like Nell at all sorry.

Helen, Eleanor, Helena, Ellen - these are all great but no Nell.

I love both! (Sorry not much help!)
Funnily enough my best friend is called Faye and she has a daughter called Nell đŸ’•

I really, really dislike Nell. Faye is lovely and not dated at all in my opinion.

Both are lovely, so it's hard to pick. I think I'd chose Nell because there are usually less spelling issues for it (compared to Fay/Faye or even Fae), but I must admit I'd be tempted to use Helena, Elena or Eleanor on the BC (and just call her Nell), so she has other options if she wants when older.

Nell Gifford was wonderful. Look up her Circus. It is ot a name that is used much but I think anyone with the name will be special.

Nell can get changed to Nelly by older people. Would you be Ok with that? Elephant connections.

I like Faye too. Use both namesd and have one in the middle? Faye XXXXX Nell etc.

Nell Gifford was a friend of my sister. Sad

That’s exactly who I think of when I hear the name.
