1. Lara
2. Nina
3. Polly
4. May
Oh I like them all! I think I like Lara and Nina best....May is nice but not that keen. Polly not sure on due to "Put the kettle on" and Aunt Polly in Peaky Blinders....what about Rose? Do you like that?
I like Lara and Nina best.
Also:
Connie
Iris
Robyn
Lois
Thea
Colette
May is the only one I don't like - I much prefer Mary. Polly is the one I'd be most likely to use. Lara and Nina are nice but not really 'me'.
Lara is my fav ☺️
Love Nina and Lara, really don't like polly or may.
Nina and Lara are my favourite.
Don’t like Polly or May.
I like Lara and Polly, not keen on the others.
I was going to use Nina if I had had a girl so I’m biased but that’s the one I like. Lara is also beautiful, and seems to be getting more popular.
I think they're really boring. I won't bother suggesting any other as I just don't think we have similar taste...
Nina and polly my favourites.
I like your list a lot. Thoughts -
Lara - pretty, but least favourite - feels quite similar to a lot of other names - Lyra, Lola, Leila etc.
Nina - love, reminds me of Nina Simone. My daughter is named Nia, which I prefer
Polly - like, was on my list, but a bit put off my all the children's songs
May - beautiful, unusual as a first name.
Other suggestions - Iris, Fern, Faye, Hazel, Nell, Iona, Sylvia / Sylvie, Ada
Lara is lovely. Out of the others my preference would be Nina, May then Polly.
Lara would be my favourite off that list. I dislike May, I'm from an era where it's a very common middle name though.
Other suggestions:
Lyra
Lois
Norah
Love Nina (my favourite girl’s name), like Lara, May is growing on me as I think about it. Don’t like Polly, twee. Quite a few women I know who would seem ridiculous as “Polly”s, IMO.
How about Ines, Cara, Clara, Marina?
Love Polly and Lara
How about Holly Willa Martha
Polly - love, underused, but would put Mary or Margaret on birth cert to give her choices
Lara - like but will mix in w all the Lola/Lyras
May - OK
Not a Nina fan, too diminutive
Other thoughts - Anna, Robin, Lois, Ines, Liv (Scandie meaning life), Aislinn (Ash-lin), Ffion, Seren, Iris, Laurel, Ivy, Thora, Zoe, Circe, Freya, Caitlin, Oona
I think Polly has been a standalone name for long enough to not need Mary on the BC,and it would raise a lot of WTF type comments.
As for putting Margaret - just why? Completely ridiculous.
Love Lara
Dora or Nora
1. Lara - Initial thought it Croft - a big character to live up to. Otherwise an attractive sounding name. Do you like Cara and Tara?
2. Nina - I like this though don't love it. I think of neenawneenaw and then there is the fabulous Nina Simone.
3. Polly - The meaning is sad. Lovely sweet sound though and currently underused. I also like Holly.
4. May - Fine.
1. Lara - not keen. Agree there are too many similar names around, Lyra and Elara in particular
2. Nina - don't like. Never have liked it. Not sure why... just don't like the sound.
3. Polly - used to love this, but have really gone off it lately. Again, not sure why!
4. May - my favourite from your list. Heavily used as a middle name, but not very often as a first name ime. I'd go with this, definitely.
Gorgeous - I love all of those except Polly (which always sounds too nicknamey for me). I actually find a hard to chose a favourite of the other 3 as all are on my list - maybe May since it is quite uncommon as a first name now, while still sounding classic and has pretty nature vibes to boot (but I love romantic Lara and quirky but elegant Nina too!).
Other similar names on my list - Mara, Cara, Cora, Theia (pronounced Thay -ah), Laura, Maia, Gaia, Anna, Anya, Eve and Maeve.
Like Nina and Polly
Lara or Nina
I love Polly. Despite the 'y' ending it sounds strong to me and not cutesy.
May is nice, used as a middle name too much but would be a sweet, pretty first name.
Lara has an elegant, international feel to me.
Nina I'm not so keen on, it's a bit insubstantial somehow.
