(98 Posts)We're expecting DD in spring and having trouble deciding on a final name. Wanted to try and avoid anything that's in the top 20-30 as my name is quite common!
Which do you prefer?
- Erin
- Martha
- Maya (although not sure if the pronunciation will be an issue, I'm thinking to rhyme with fire/liar)
- Nola
I love Erin the best. Such a lovely name
Love Nola
About maya, would you consider Mya so people don't get it wrong?
Erin
Erin
Not too keen on Erin, Maya reminds me of a polish/ Bulgarian kind of name and Nola makes me think of the Nolan sisters. Martha is quite a pretty name though. That would be my choice
Martha. Was our runner-up name for DD, and then DC2 was a boy. Still love it.
Erin feels slightly random unless you have strong links to Ireland? I do quite like it though.
Maya/Maia both fine for the pronunciation you want.
Martha 🥰
Martha unless Irish then Erin is also good
Martha is lovely.

Wrote a porn about Nola, so I wouldn't use that, but others might.
Don't like Erin.
Maya is naff, over-used, try-hard.
Martha. Hmm. Martha Mary? I'm watching 'Once upon a time' with dgd and I'm a bit keen on the name Mary Margaret.
Martha.
Martha
Martha (or Maia if not spelt with the y)
Erin. I don't think you'd need Irish links for it.
Erin for me.
I had it when I was pg in 2002/2003 and had a boy. It’s very underused.
Maya sounds harsh to me, Nola sounds made up and Martha sounds really old fashioned.
I don't like Erin. I'd go for Maya or Martha. Probably Maya though as Martha is a bit smug.
Nola reminds me of New Orleans. And now I want to go there and have the wildest holiday possible. Sigh.
I looooove Martha. So sweet, traditional, underused, pretty. It’s on my list if I ever have a daughter.
I like them all! Martha and Erin most. I would probably think Maya was pronounced May-ah rather than My-a (which I would spell Mya). When I see Nola I think New Orleans which isn’t a bad association (I love New Orleans!) so I probably wouldn’t have it as a first name.
Erin or Nola
