Names you can shorten

Struggling to come up with boys' names we both like - we're due our second soon.

We like the following, but for various family reasons can't use them:
Christopher
Benjamin
Timothy
Oliver

Any suggestions of other names that are traditional, but not over-used, and that he can shorten as he wants when he grows up?

Any traditional name of at least 2/3 syllables often has several shortenings; these are all outside the top 100:

Nicholas (Nico, Cole, Nick,)
Nathaniel (Nate, Han, Niel)
Dominic (Dom, Nico, Nick)
Benedict (Ben, Ned, Ted)
Jonathan (Jon, Jonty, Nate)
Phillip (Phil, Pip, Flip)
Robert (Robin, Robbie, Bertie)
Edmund (Eddie, Ned, Ted)

So what you want is a traditional, underused classic, long name with diminutives. There are loads of them.

Lots of great ideas above. I can't add to them, but my immediate thoughts were Nicholas, Dominic, Jonathan and Nathaniel.
