Hello - we're looking for a unique Indian baby boy name which is easy to pronounce by English speakers. What do you think of the name Viaan? You can be honest!

Pronounced Vye - an or Vee - an? I don't know much about Indian names, so I wouldn't know instinctively which to guess.

Sorry pronounced Vee-an.

I know a Viyan, aged about 13. Once you know how to pronounce, it's not hard.

Vian (to me) suggests the pronunciation a little bit more easily, but if there's a cultural element to the Viaan spelling then I think it's absolutely lovely!

As long as you are okay with occasional mispronunciations and misspellings until people become familiar with Viaan; then I think it's a pleasant sounding name, and it's lovely to choose one that reflects your heritage.

Thanks all, so good to get honest opinions.

@Superstardjs - we were also thinking if Milan as an option. Though we would spell it Milun or Milen to avoid confusion with the Italian city Milan

Both nice.

I like it. I would probably automatically pronounce it vee-arn with that spelling though. Ds has a friend called Amaan and the double aa is pronounced as ar.
So maybe Viyan would be better if that's an alternative?

I like it. I thought it was a female name until I read your full post though, because there’s a French female name Vianne. I don’t think that’s a problem though.

Lovely. I think male V names have a certain something! Love Vincent, Vivian, and my youngest was in school with a Vikram who really suited his name. Viaan is great.

Love Viaan, I used to know one. Always thought it was a cool name. Please don't Anglicise the spelling just to suit English speakers, it's not hard name to learn.

Viaan is beautiful. I agree with @SionnachRua. It's easy to pronounce. Though who care about him or about diversity will learn. My language doesn't have an r so I tend to slip and pronounce r as l. Never heard of English people change Robert to Lobert to accommodate us or others who have same "difficulty"
