(48 Posts)Hello all! Trying to find a girl’s name that DH and I agree on is really tough... we’ve both got names we love but the other doesn’t 😭
We both like Hallie and I really like Rose as a middle name (DH is less keen but I think could be persuaded) - thoughts?
I don’t know whether I actually want it or if I’m just latching into it as DH has vetoed my favourite names and vice versa...
It’s a bit Real Housewives of Cheshire (sorry).
I prefer Hayley, Rose is a lovely name though.
I like Hallie, not keen on Rose as I think it's overused, I personally know 5 babies and toddlers with the middle name Rose. I think Hallie with another one syllable middle name would be lovely, for example Hallie Faye or Hallie Jade
I like it! You could hyphenate to Hallie-Rose? This will not be a popular opinion on MN but who cares. It’s nice
Rose as a middle name is so bland and generic to me but hallie is a nice enough name
Rose is nicer as a first name, so popular as a middle.
Pretty.
Hallie is nice! Rose is a big overdone, but also nice. If you have a very common surname (Smith / Jones etc), I might make an effort to find a more unusual middle name, as there may be another Hallie Rose Jones of a similar age which could be annoying if if makes her harder to identify.
How about:
Hallie Jessica
Hallie Catherine
Hallie Violet
Hallie Primrose
Hallie Iris
Hallie Nia
Hallie Maria
Hallie Maya
Hallie Juliet
Bit overdone*
And I mean as a middle name only. Much less well used as a first name ime.
Sorry OP but as soon as I saw Hallie Rose I immediately thought halitosis.... I wouldnt want to risk that sort of rhyming nickname
How about Harriet Rose, it's a bit more elegant
It is lovely. Rose IS overdone as a middle name but there is a reason why - it sounds so beautiful!
How do you pronounce that Hal-ee or Hayley? I don't really like either tbh but love Rose
I don't like Hallie, it seems unfinished somehow. Rose is nice.
I like Hallie and Rose. Rose is a beautiful first name if you wanted to switch it up.
Hallie isn’t my style of name, but it’s OK. Rose is nice, but bland as a middle name. Could you use Rosa, Rosanna, Rosamund, etc?
Hallie is not a proper name, and sounds like halitosis.
Rose is ok.

Exactly what I was going to say. It feels like almost every baby under 5 has either Rose or May as filler middle name. A baby with the first name Rose would be a breath of fresh air.
Hallie sounds too nicknamey for me (perhaps for Helena? which is lovely). But Rose would make a very nice first name imo. I think if you do decide to use Hallie as a first name, then maybe give her a more classic/traditional middle name like Catherine, Charlotte, Victoria etc
I like Hallie but not with Rose. I know one Hallie and she is 16 and her name is Hallie Scarlett
I have an cousin who called her daughter Halle 6 years ago ( she is a big fan of Halle Berry) but as others have said , I ALWAYS think of Halitosis whenever I see the little one or she is mentioned. Rose is a classically beautiful name.
I know a Halle rose, 6 years old
I'd spell Halle without the i
But other than that it's nice
Is it pronounced Ha-lee? I don’t think that sounds very nice but I don’t know why. Maybe it is the halitosis connection pp mentioned.
