What do you think?
I'm thinking Bronte sounding.
For a boy.

Not a fan, probably because in Scotland there is an east and west Linton so just makes me think of that.

What about Lyndon?

Hmm, not a fan of Lyndon as I know one who is a bit of a drunk!

It's a village in Cambridgeshire. I don't like it at all the name that is not the place, they have a zoo though.

Lynton is a nicer way to spell it.

ShitXmasCracker · 22/11/2020 15:22

Not nice. Makes me think of lint.

Lyndon slightly better.

Tolleshunt · 22/11/2020 15:23

It has unhappy connotations for me because of Wuthering Heights.

Are you a fan of Linton Kwesi Johnson OP?

As long as the middle names are Travel and Tavern...

Report
rooarsome · 22/11/2020 15:29

I also associate it with Edgar Linton from Wuthering Heights

MaltedMilk88 · 22/11/2020 15:29

Not for me but if you like it that's all that really matters

Not keen... I know a Lincoln, which again, isn't to my taste, but you might like. There is also the Irish name Finton?

Linton-on-Ouse is a village in Yorkshire. Makes me think of that.

icedaisy · 22/11/2020 15:35

Village in Scottish Borders to me

Report
BurningEars · 22/11/2020 15:37

What about Clinton?

Report
joybrightnice · 22/11/2020 15:39

It's a village near me so no and reminds me of lint.

Linton has fairly unfortunate connotations in Wuthering Heights doesnā€™t it? I mean all of the characters are dodgy in that book.

Report
melisande99 · 22/11/2020 15:52

It's the wimp from Wuthering Heights, isn't it? Isabella and Heathcliif's snivelling, selfish son?

Thereā€™s a Lynton in my family, I like it.

Sorry, I think of Lynton Crosby, which is not a positive association.

I have a friend with that surname so Iā€™d assume if I heard a boy called Linton that his friends were calling him by his surname.

Clint or Carlton?
