I agree - I think it’s because the stress pattern in each name is different so they still flow well together.

I.e. Elsie Mary (EL-sie MA-ry) vs Elsie Marie (EL-sie ma-RIE)

Love it. Does make me think of Lisa Marie but wouldn’t put me off.

Not keen on either of them.
How does Elsie sound with the surname?

Bit twee for me

I like Elsie. I prefer it with an unpredictable middle name, but sounds fine with Marie.

Weren’t you deciding between Lucy and Elsie? Still not personally keen on Elsie, I think of Corrie.
I would put it with a bit of a stronger sounding middle name, I find the double ‘ie’ off putting

It’s fine. Elsie isn’t my cup of tea, I prefer Elise/Eliza. The actual name is ok though and very wearable, just not my taste.

What would you consider a stronger middle name? I'm trying to avoid the obvious Rose or May so I thought Marie would be a good alternative.

Lovely names but all of these are from that thread all about filler middle names lol

Bit twee for a grown up professional I'd say. Nice for a sweet little girl (do you want a sweet little girl tho?)

Not a fan of Elsie but I do know one who is lovely.

Marie is nice, it's the Elsie part that might need reconsidering... it's a very very twee name for a grown woman. Elise? Elise Marie is nice.

Oh millions of names!

Elsie Ramona
Elsie Josephine
Elsie Cassandra
Elsie Marianne (better than marie I think?)
Elsie Blythe
Elsie Juliette

Also however agree that Elsie wouldn't be my first choice - prefer Edith, Martha, Maeve?

It has a sad sound to me. Quie a melancholy name.

In terms of a ‘stronger’ middle name Elsie is quite a cutesy name so having a more ‘grown up’ middle name balances it out

Elsie Margot
Elsie Catherine
Elsie Violet
Elsie Victoria
Elsie Harriet
Elsie Charlotte
Elsie Stella
Elsie Astrid
Elsie Frances
Elsie Abigail
Elsie Madeleine

I know I was last poster t’other day but I actually thought about Elsie and I really like Elsie Harriet

I can hear ‘Elsie Harriet Jones [insert alternative surname] being read out to receive her degree.
‘Elsie Marie Jones’ I think of a little girl whacking another on the head with a plastic toy.

I get too into these imaginings.
