I really like Rory for a boy but partner likes Phillip (it is growing on me) is quite unusual nowadays but also quite different.

Charlotte or Alexa for a girl. Alexa has always been my favouriite name for a girl but really don't think we ca use it now. Would the whole amazon allexa thing put people off using it??

We already have a Noah.

Thanks in advance

I really like Rory. Philip will take some getting used to as it’s so unusual but I think it could be ok.

What about Alexandra and you shorten it to Alexa? If she gets fed up with it, which I think I would, she has other options to use.

Rory is OK, I don't like the Phil shortening so would say no to Philip.

I wouldn't go with Alexa, Alexandra yes.
Philip is a bit old dad name to me. Not quite vintage enough to be fashionable and definitely not modern either. It's there with Gary.

I love Rory. Philip is a very underused classic - I quite like it. And Pip is a great nickname.

Charlotte doesn’t inspire me but is completely fine if you love it and don’t mind the popularity. I’m not keen on Alexa and there’s the Google issue. How about Alexandra?

I like Charlotte, Phillip and Rory. I used to love Rory, but it really seems to be having a moment, so wonder if it's going to be trendy which means it will date.

On balance, I'd go Charlotte and Phillip. They are more timeless imo. Alexa is nice too, but it has been mainly popular, along with Lexie, Lexie-May etc and Alexia in recent years, so again, I think it will date.

I like both Rory and Phillip, Rory a little more.
While I like Alexa I don't think it's now usable. Alexis or Alexandra would work. I like Charlotte.

Love Alexandra too!

Philip with one L is the proper spelling. Agree it's quite distinctive nowadays. "Phil" is quite likely to happen, though - and that just makes me think of Phil Mitchell/generic middle-aged bloke.

Alexa, no. She'll never hear the end of it. Charlotte is nicer imo anyway.

Ooh sorry but I really dislike the name Phillip. I've taught a few of them over the years actually, so it's not as unusual as you'd think. I really like Rory though! I like Alexa but maybe Alexandra would be a safer option?

Love Rory 🥰 and prefer Alexandra to Alexa.

Rory Phillip is very nice

Philip is such a refreshing change these days!! Love it.

Rory is acceptable and perfectly ok and fine albeit pretty dull. Admittedly I used to like it. It's leaped 100 places in the chart the last few years and is now top 50 and still on the rise. Plus -There's a whole host of other Ro names which are top 100 that kind of merge into one when they're all in a class together. Names like Ronnie Rory Roman are extremely popular and still rising.

Charlotte is a gorgeous classic
Alexa is really nice too and the Alexa amazon gadget wouldn't put me off

I like Rory, it does keep popping up on mumsnet though, so may be getting popular - not sure if that bothers you. I don't like Philip - though Pip is quite a cute nn for a little boy. How about -

Louis
Patrick
Nathanial
George
Liam
Ethan
Samuel
Benjamin
Jude
Zachary

Charlotte is fine, bit dull. Prefer Charlie over Lottie as a nn. I think Alexa is unusable at the moment. Alexandra is nice. Love Lexi too.

I prefer Philip - this spelling.

I really like the classic Charlotte, although it's currently a bit popular it is so well used historically that it hopefully shoudn't ever feel dated (unlike some less traditional names.)

Alexa on the other hand would be quite a brave choice currently I think. If you really love it, I'd use the more traditional Alexandria/Alexandra (with the nn Alexa) - it would be safer in case the device hasn't gone away by the time she's older.

There's nothing especially unlikeable about Rory, I just find the sound of it a bit trendy. It does work well with the popular Noah, though.

I personally prefer Philip (spelt this simpler way, maybe with the cute nn Pip or Flip). Philip is a really classic name, that is just not very popular at the moment - but one I can see making a comeback along with similar traditional names (Peter, Robert, John etc) in a few years time. You'd be ahead of the pack!

Love Rory. I love Alexa to but if anyone said her name Alexa the machine would pipe up. How about Alexis instead?
