We like either Aurora or Sage for our baby girl, which one do you like better? Is Aurora too common now?

Sage. I always find Aurora a bit of a mouthful and Sage is lovely and underused

Sage!

I wouldn't say Aurora was overused but it has definitely become more popular in recent years

one sounds like orange squash
and the other like an accounting software.
so no.

I think this year Sage is too much about the scientific advisory group for emergencies.

I honestly think we’re gonna go with Aurora but I like Sage too.

Sage is one of my guilty pleasure names, I really love the sound of it plus the fact it is both a nature/hippy sort of name and a word name with a nice meaning (synonym for wise). I don't know if I'd be brave enough to use it in the first name spot myself, but it's beautiful!

Aurora to me, has a very different vibe to Sage. I think the Disney Princess associations have overcome it's nature/hippy meaning (of the Aurora Borealis), so it maybe feels more frilly/girly than Sage? But it would probably be the "safer" of your choices since it's more well known.

If you aren't using family names in the middle spot, Aurora Sage would be beautiful!

Aurora is gorgeous. Sage is awful.

Sorry, both sound like accountancy software packages to me.

Saugacia sort of combines the two.

Aurora has a beautiful meaning but is very hard for anyone with a speech impediment to say properly....

Sage is sweet

I like both. I'd use Aurora as I like that you can shorten it.

Report
TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 08:21

True re speech impediments though. Little children would also struggle to say it. There are lots of Rorys around though, which you could use as a shortening? Not sure it that helps as you would still get the r sounds, but I think Rory might be slightly easier.

Not that keen on Aurora but it's far nicer than Sage.

Sage is the name of the website I get my payslips on 😳😂 I love Aurora, it was a potential name for DD but DP vetoed it!

I knew a Sage and he was a real free spirit, so I like that name. But for me it’s masculine.

Aurora- Disney princess. I don’t love it.

Sage definitely, Aurora is far too frilly and lots of little ones will replace the r with W. Sage is beautiful and much less used

Nell96 · 21/11/2020 09:12

Aurora is pretty, but maybe slightly frilly and a bit of a mouthful. Sage is truly terrible - please don't.

Sorry safe and onion, software and scientists would rule that out completely for me.

Sage is usually a name for a boy isn't it?

Report
Whatsyourflava · 21/11/2020 09:22

Aurora is a lovely choice
Sage i think of "sage advice" and also thought it was for a boy. Not keen but ok for middle name

Aurora is lovely, Sage makes me think of stuffing

I prefer Sage.
Sorrel may be a good alternative if you can't choose?

I like them both.

But if I'm honest after 2020 Sage has an entirely different meaning to me now and I'd not want to call my kid that.

Well Sage is an accounts package but I am an accountant and 'wisdom' is the connection I made.

Personally I really like Sage and agree it sounds sweet. I know an Aurora... let's just say she puts me off the name.
