Second on our list for a boy is Joss. Thoughts on this too please?

I prefer the Jos spelling, like the cricketer, but I like the name. And I’ve met the cricketer, he was lovely grin

RhiannonGyspy Wed 16-Sep-20 17:54:30

@ShellsAndSunrises is it still said the same? Joss rather than Jos(e) like hose?

I like the name, but I wonder if people would struggle not to say josh

MikeUniformMike Wed 16-Sep-20 17:59:26

It's fine. I'd use it as short for Joseph.

StepawayfromtheBiscuittin Wed 16-Sep-20 18:00:29

Love it, it was in my family.

chelkjxhhd Wed 16-Sep-20 18:03:41

To me it just sounds like josh said with a lisp which has always put me off

GoatsInBoats Wed 16-Sep-20 18:04:44

I quite like it, but I prefer Jem, which to me is in a similar vein.

MrsCalypsoGrant Wed 16-Sep-20 18:13:47

Absolutely love it. When I first heard Joss Ackland's beautiful voice when I was a child in the early eighties I decided any son of mine would be a Joss. A good friend of mine then named her son Joss & it didn't really work with the surname I had by that point so I never got my Joss. But I think it's one of the nicest names around.

I'm also old enough to remember Jossy's Giants grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 16-Sep-20 18:15:18

I love Jos Buttler too. Jos is fabulous name.

Choice4567 Wed 16-Sep-20 18:15:20

Absolutely! Jos is an awesome name

Saisong Wed 16-Sep-20 18:16:59

I knew a rather posh Joss once, his actual name was Jocelyn - which I think he found hard to live with.

Celticdawn5 Wed 16-Sep-20 18:18:56

Joss is usually the short version of Jocelyn

meanyp Wed 16-Sep-20 18:20:12

Here's a Joss for you. (Joss Wayar)
Suits him!

LynetteScavo Wed 16-Sep-20 18:20:31

It OK - I really love Jess and Ross, so am trying to figure out why I'm a bit meh about Joss. I think it's because I met one I didn't line once (he was probably a Jocelin though)

Joeyandpacey Wed 16-Sep-20 18:20:45

I know a joss. Really suits him.

FelicityPike Wed 16-Sep-20 18:21:16

Love it

Scarby9 Wed 16-Sep-20 18:23:40

The Joss I know is short for Jossaniel.
Joss is a great nane.

Oly4 Wed 16-Sep-20 18:24:11

Awful sorry

TheNighthawk Wed 16-Sep-20 18:26:37

Only if short for Jocelyn. Otherwise silly.

lakeswimmer Wed 16-Sep-20 18:30:57

I like it - it's quite a popular kids name in my area and I've seen it used for girls and boys just as it is - not short for anything.

morefun Wed 16-Sep-20 18:32:19

I knew a nice Joss when I was younger (he was older). I like it. People mistook it for Josh a fair bit, but that happens with some names - my daughter's sounds a lot like two other names.

GreenJellyBean Wed 16-Sep-20 18:39:26

I think it’s a great name!
