We’re not having a baby but I figured you all could help solve this debate between me and dh:-

Marcia:-

Mar see a or
Marsha?

Or can it be both?

I know one and she is mar-see-a
I had to ask her though as it was not obvious to me

dementedpixie Sun 13-Sep-20 18:24:23

I know an adult one of each, both spelt the same.

Mysa74 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:26:15

I've known people who pronounce it both ways...

TipseyTorvey Sun 13-Sep-20 18:29:42

I immediately said Mar-see-a. But also could be Marsha, I suppose

Sunnydaysstillhere Sun 13-Sep-20 18:31:48

It's dd's middle name. Mar see a

Vote for mar-sha here.

Oneandabean Sun 13-Sep-20 18:35:33

Mar-see-a

Coldcough Sun 13-Sep-20 18:35:47

Marsha

Sunshineandsparkle Sun 13-Sep-20 18:36:56

It could be either. My go to would be “Marsha” though I think.

Scarby9 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:38:26

Either.
Like Alicia - I am always being caught out by the Ali- see - a versus the Alisha pronunciations.

JustSaying101 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:40:39

Mar - see - a
I personally know 3 Marcia's and they all pronounce their name this way.

Craddle64 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:43:48

Mar see yah

Craddle64 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:44:17

Mars see ya

JustSaying101 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:46:46

Saying that, it could be said the other way.
Similar to Tricia/Trisha, although I've never met anyone that pronounces Tricia as Tri-see-a as of yet, only Tri-sha. Tricky one!

GlamGiraffe Sun 13-Sep-20 18:48:33

Mar see uh

missmouse101 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:49:15

Marsha, like in the Brady Bunch!

MaryShelley1818 Sun 13-Sep-20 18:54:29

My best friend is Marcia.....

ShrimpSymphony Sun 13-Sep-20 18:54:32

HeronLanyon Sun 13-Sep-20 19:02:46

SpeedofaSloth Sun 13-Sep-20 19:04:46

Unseeliequeen Sun 13-Sep-20 19:04:52

I don't know, I've never met anyone with the name, but I automatically read it as Marsha
