I need your valuable suggestion to decide the name 'Avi' for my son. The meaning of this name is (THE SUN AND AIR; HONEST) in Hindi. We are from India (Hindu) and our son is a US-born. 1. It looks like it's a unisex name with more than 95% boys. Should we proceed with this name for my son?

It might sound like the Spanish Javi for Javier (the J is silent).

Actually ignore me, the J is sounded H so it's more Havi, so shouldn't cause confusion. Congratulations.

Perfectly OK. Makes me think of Pentatonic but Avinash is a well known Indian name as well so can't see Avi being an issue.

OP if Avi is from your culture and you like it, then that's brilliant.

But please don't believe what you read on baby name websites - most of them are completely without any real life or academic justification.
