I know that Sophia is v popular in the national stats but it's less so near me.

We are thinking middle name of Florence.

Which do you prefer?

How are you pronouncing Maya?

May-uh or My-uh?

I prefer Sophia anyway as it’s a beautiful name. I’d worry about pronunciation with Maya.

Sophia Florence is gorgeous.

I’m not keen on Maya.

Sophia is a classic name, Maya is a currently trendy name.

I prefer Sophie to Sophia, and I don't like Maya.

Maya works in almost every language in the world and was the mother of Buddha so not exactly a new trendy name so much as timeless and spanning epochs

I prefer Sophia as there's lots of pronunciation issues with Maya.

Sophia is beautiful! I love it.

Also Florence is one of my favourite names.

I think Maya and Mia could get mixed up
Depends if that bothers you

I love both, Maya is DD's middle name (pronounced My-ah). Just had baby DS but he would have been Sophie or Sophia had he been a girl.

I love Maya it's a beautiful name. It's also a Hebrew name meaning spring (as in water). We consider it for DD but her surname already has the Ma sound so it was sounded a bit sing songy

Sophia is really beautiful
Looking at the statistics the numbers have been on decline the past few years so that's probably why I don't know any.
It's getting rarer

Sophia Florence is lovely! There are no Sophias in dc's reception class and there were none at nursery either iirc. I don't think it's overused at the mo.

Sophia is beautiful, and it's a much stronger sounding name than Maya.

Also, I associate Maya firstly with a central American civilisation rather than a girls' name.

Both are lovely choices, but I would go for Sophia! Sounds so beautiful and elegant Smile

Sophia by miles. I know it's popular now but it's timeless, I don't get that vibe from Maya
