What are your thoughts on the name Fleur? We are considering for DC1. DH loves it but I am not quite 100% yet...

I have a very close family member with this name and it is gorgeous imo and has weathered very well over the years.

Go for it!

I'm not a fan - always sounds like someone pretending to throw up or has something stuck in their throat

Beautiful name. I know one who is 12 now. Suited her as a 5 year old and doesn't sound odd as a preteen either.

I have to say I don't like this one.

Pronounced with a French accent, pretty, but English...Sounds like "Fler" which is quite throat-cleary. Or maybe how my friend from Halifax would say "flo"

I’m 50 and knew a girl called Fleur at school. Absolutely love it!

I probably wouldn't use it as I failed French at school. But I do know one little girl Fleur and love it

It’s pretty but the English pronunciation sounds like “bleurgh!”

It's a friend's middle name.
A schoolfriend (we're going back a few decades) had a Ddog called Fleur nn Fleurdie.

Is it a name in France? I thought it was from The Forsyte Saga.

I've never seen the appeal of this name. Sounds like "bleurghhh".

I really want to like it, it looks so pretty on the page... but I don't think I like the spoken sound much. However, I just asked DH to say it and it sounds lovely in a west of Ireland accent.

Thanks all. I was worried about the eerrgh noise too but I do think it's a beautiful name. I am so drawn to short names!
