Me and DH are expecting a DD and these are some names are on our list
-Autumn
-Elliott
-Nora
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Also any ideas on how to tell older step children they are going to have another sibling? Me and DH are a little scared of what their reactions will be!😬

Autumn or Nora are nice
Not Elliott

Nora: why? It's hideous. Elliott? I wouldn't. It's okay, but there are much nicer names.

You're thinking of names, but haven't told the other children? Hey kids, you have a little sister, Nora coming in *** How would you feel?!

Autumn is lovely. Not sure on Elliott for a girl but she could be Ellie. Nora is sweet but a little old fashioned.

Elliott is a nice boy's name. Nora is not a pretty name. I quite like Autumn.
But ultimately it is your baby & your choice.

I know it's quite bad :( We need to tell them this weekend as they are all coming over but are honestly terrified of their reactions!

Nora is awful. Don’t like Elliott for a girl either. Sorry I’m not keen on Autumn either but it’s definitely better than the other two.

Love Autumn. Is Elliott not a boys name?

Elliott is a bit too scrubs for me... I love Nora though!

We know Elliot is a boys name but thought it would be cute and she could always be Ellie or El if she for some reason didn't like it!

Elliott is weird for a girl.

Autumn is OK.

Nora has to be one of the most hideous names around. I don't get the love for it on here at all.

Not very helpful but I love all 3 of those names and think they'd all work well

Report
FluffyEggsontoast · 31/07/2020 08:27

Maybe you could text them beforehand and say/warn you hve some news to share
They'll probably guess so it won't be such a shock to hear

FluffyEggsontoast · 31/07/2020 08:28

I mean text them that you have some news but don't tell them by text what the news actually is. I imagine they'll work it out and that way it'll be less of a shock when you announce it to them

I agree, text them that you have some news and then tell them. Don't be 'squee' and try to make it more about how they are feeling than how you are feeling (ie. Excited), - you are already doing this, because you are wondering how to tell them and not barging in all "squee we are SO excited", Smile.

I far prefer Elliott for a girl than for a boy. Same with Blake, but that isn't relevant!

Autumn is lovely. Nora I like a lot, but it does sound a bit like norovirus Blush. I would have Leonora or Eleanor and shorten to Nora.

Also, how about Aurora? A bit like Autumn and a bit like Nora! Could be shortened to Rory.

Elliott is a boys name. Autumn is lovely, unusual enough to stand out but everyone can spell it.

I can't see the appear of Nora personally. All Nora Batty for me. Eleanor, Eleanora or Annora though are great. Eleanor or Eleanora would give you an Ellie nickname that I'm guessing you want from Elliott?

I'd go with Autumn. Autumn Eleanora would be amazing.

Nora is lovely! Also like it spelt Norah. I couldn’t use it as it clashes terribly with my DD name but if I could I would in a heartbeat.
Also think Autumn is a really beautiful name.
I know a little girl called Elliot. Called Ellie most of the time. Although I don’t necessarily dislike it I think it would potentially raise some eyebrows and people would always automatically presume she’s a boy before meeting her.

-Autumn - not my taste
-Elliott - boy's name
-Nora - Flamin' Nora.

Of the three, Autumn.

Elliot is a boy's name and totally odd to give a girl a definite boy's name Confused

Nora is very ugly in my opinion with no redeeming features

Absolutely love autumn 😍 this is my style of name.
