Baby names

Please please say I can have Clementine

Hi MNers

A few years ago I posted asking whether I should name my baby Clementine. The answers were a resounding no.
I'm now back again, because I clearly can't take a hint.
So...our surname is Harrowdyne. Can I use Clementine (ending 'tyne' ) or am I once again deluding myself?
Feel free to hand me a grip if I need it.
Thanks!!

Sorry op I dont think it goes with the surname !

You can't do that with your surname!

I'm really sorry OP, but it's a no from me. You have a lovely surname, and Clementine is a beautiful name, but they just don't go together.

Ok. I'm 1 down so far...kinda expected it. But...I'm staying optimistic until the last!

Clementine is a great name. So what if it rhymes with your surname! She’ll probably get called Clem or Clemmie anyway.

I love you Toilen

I actually like it.

Clementine harrowdyne. Sounds like a character from a lovely wind swept book.

They rhyme and Firstname Surname doesn't flow that well, and outside the home that's who she will be.
A middle name won't break it up.

It's up to you OP. I wouldn't but if you and the father-to-be are happy with it, then no reason why you can't.

What makes you like it?

Didn't bother the parents of Dave Davies. Go for it op.

I always have going back years. Some inexplicable magnetic attraction that I can't explain. I just love it. But I hate that our surname rhymes.
Not that it makes a difference but our surname is spelt Harrodine.
Which is also massively outing since there are almost no other people in the country with that name. By meh.

How about Clemency instead?

What's wrong with Dave Davies? Are you having a pop at the Welsh there Bub?

I know a Steve Stevens.

It's a lovely name. But not with a rhyming surname.

thewisp · 29/06/2020 19:34

I love it! I think it goes really well with your last name. And she can always go by Clem / Clemmie.

If you love it OP, don't let other people on here put you off. This is the website where owning a toilet brush is akin to murder after all.

Clemency I also really like but the association with death row and pardoning makes me doubt. Plus it's more out there than Clementine. I think...

Clemency is lovely, use that. Top suggestion @allfurcoatnoknickers

Clementine is my absolute favourite girls name and I think it sounds lovely with your surname. My husband really doesnt like it so we chose a different name for our daughter but I think it is really pretty and I love Clem as a nickname xx
