If I heard the Dutch pronunciation I'd assume boy as it's similar to Marcus.
There must be a Dutch girls name that works in English?

Sounds lovely. I went to school with a girl called Marlowe and she was angelic and still is beautiful and lovely to this day.
I’ve never been to Marloes village or beach so I’m glad to hear it is beautiful. I only knew about it from the internet.
To me that is the name of a (beautiful) beach in Pembrokeshire so I would assume the child is named for the place - but I’d also think it was a lovely name
People will learn quickly. Nice name.
I like either pronunciation so I don’t think it matters!
I just thought I would add that my own name gets mispronounced by people but people who know me well enough usually remember it. I’ve never been bothered and often don’t bother correcting them anyway.
Would prefer Dutch pronounciation of Mar-loose, but assuming that she’d be called Mar-lows sometimes by English speakers doesn’t really bother me.
But should it?
