(102 Posts)DH says it sounds like Uncle Fester. He prefers Hestia.
It was in a book I was reading.
I love it. But then she’s one of my faves from His Dark Materials
(Cried so much when they died)
I thought of uncle fester too.
It’s lovely
I love it because of Scoresby and Hester but I don’t think i would have been brave enough to use it on a real life human girl.
Perhaps Esther as an alternative.
Lovely
I love it. Also Esther
no, ugly and hard sounding
Love it. One of my family names.
Hester is a great one. The link to His Dark Materials for a start.
Love it.
Love it!
(Cried so much when they died) am only just starting book 2 and they are alive.
I prefer Hester to Hestia, but I prefer Esther to either of them.
I also love it because of His Dark Materials. I think it's probably unusual these days but would not sound out of place with the kind of names that kids have at our school.
The adulteress in The Scarlet Letter.
My first thought was Uncle Fester too.
I like it. Makes me think of a quiet, seemingly mousy kind of girl with a quick wit when you get to know her.
I know a fabulous Hester. I loved the name before I knew her and she's a good fit for it.
How about changing the spelling to Hesta?
Estelle and Celeste are similar...
Honestly I don't like it but then the one Hester I knew wasn't a very friendly person so that probably doesn't help
Great name how about Hesper too with a “P” rather than “T”. Lovely meaning from what I remember
No.
It's a beautiful name.
I hate it. Sounds like Fester.
