I like but could never use it...it was the surnay of the boyfriend I had before dh!!!!

I dislike the trend for Irish surnames being used as first names so it's a no from me. I said as much on the previous thread that's been linked, but in that case it went so well with the sibling names that it just worked.

Rafael is much nicer anyway. Rafferty sounds a bit, well, scruffy, for some reason

I like both Raphael and Rafferty. If unsure I would edge towards Raphael as the more traditional one.
