I really love it. Good choice.

I think it's a name that will work well with most middle names, so just choose one you like.

I like classic names so I'd go for Matthew James.

Lovely name but be prepared for it to be shortened to Matt

Matthew James .....
I like Matthew as a whole name but would think that unless you are very strict he would end up being called Matt or Mattie
When we were little we used to sing
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Bless the.bed that I lie on. Four corners to my bed Four angels round my head One to watch and one to pray and two to bear my soul away

I love Matthew and I know one who still gets full Matthew at 18, never Matt. However, I like Matt too.

I have a Matthew James so loving the enthusiasm for the name!

He does get it shortened at school but I don’t mind really. Mainly he is Matt apart from one friend who calls him Math!

I knew a Matthew that was 4 years older than me. He threw a solid icy snowball in my face when I was about 11 then shut me in a bathroom and held the handle on the otherwise so that I couldn’t get out.

I don’t like it.

Love the name Matthew.
I think the middle name depends on the syllables in your surname, but James, John will probably go well with it,

I love Matthew. Such a classic name. And James is lovely as a middle name.

My cousin is Matthew James and he’s 15 and not once have we ever called him Matt.

Matthew James is lovely. It’ll almost certainly be shortened to Matt tho, which is also lovely imo, but a consideration for you. I absolutely love the name Matthew but it’s out of the question for DH and I, for very valid reason but I’m still gutted!

I know a Matthew who is known as Math. It seems the most natural shortening.

Good solid name. My brother is Matthew.

Love Matthew and Matt.
Middle name? Whatever you like. James is ok as is John.

I have a (now adult) cousin called Matthew James too! I like it.
Family call him Matty but every one else calls him Matthew or Matt.

Love it.

It would have been one of my top name choices but it doesn’t work in my exH’s language so we couldn’t go with it. It’s a great name for all ages

Lovely name. You won't regret. I always think of Matthews as being kind, gentle and intelligent. Don't know why!

My DH is Matthew John and he now tends to just go by Matthew, other than a few mates who call him Matt. At school he got Matty (which I'm not keen on - we went to school together)

I've only ever called him Matthew, it's a classic name

I have a Matthew and nobody calls him Matt. He is Matthew William. It's actually relatively unusual now - he has never had another Matthew in a class or activity.
