Which do you like best please? Or any other options?

Want to honour a late family member who went by Ro. A nickname, not her real name, which we don’t want to use.

Middle name Bethan.

BillHadersNewWife Mon 02-Dec-19 13:27:48

Rose. People will call her Rosie etc anyway.

My friend Ro is a Rosanna. There's also Rowan, Rosina, Romilly, Veronica (maybe a bit of a stretch?).

Peachbubble Mon 02-Dec-19 13:31:12

I like Rose or Rosalie. I know a young Rosalind too.

MissHenty Mon 02-Dec-19 13:57:25

I love Rosalind or rosemary (I think both will be shorted to Rosie anyway)
Beautiful names.

ThursdayLastWeek Mon 02-Dec-19 14:32:24

I quite like Rowena? Might be a bit Harry Potter though.

Rose is classic, prefer Rosanna though I think.

joCmummy Mon 02-Dec-19 14:32:46

My eldest has the middle name Rosalind. But whatever you choose it'll be special because you're honouring your friend 🙂

Strangeinthenight Mon 02-Dec-19 14:35:38

Thanks everyone.

I think I’m even more confused now!! So many lovely names to choose from.

I think most likely we will go for Rose which is DHs favourite. I honestly like them all evenly!

Militantmartha Mon 02-Dec-19 14:50:18

Romy, Rose and Rosa are all lovely

Of those mentioned here I like Rose and Rosalind.

I know a Rosabella too.

Rose won't be shortened to Ro though which you want I think? If so Rowan, Rowena.

doodlejump1980 Mon 02-Dec-19 17:40:50

Rona? Rosanna? Roan?

I vote Rose, it’s just so so classic and gorgeous. Can have Rosie or Ro as her nickname if she likes

I like Roxanne/Roxanna

Personally would avoid the name Rowan due to confusion with v popular name (fastest rising in top 100) Roman @Strangeinthenight

Thetimetravelerswife Mon 02-Dec-19 22:03:44

I like rose and Rosa.

Mattelio Mon 02-Dec-19 22:06:10

I like rosalie! Then you can nickname ro, rose or rosie as she goes through life smile

I know a rosie who's full name is rosanna which you might like?

PlasticPatty Mon 02-Dec-19 22:09:12

Rosalie Bethan.

My daughter is Rosaria. We call her Rosa for short or sometimes Rosebud.

bluerad Mon 02-Dec-19 22:29:25

We have a Rose and she gets called Ro Ro by her friends.

Astronica Mon 02-Dec-19 22:30:52

I like Rose best of your options. Rose Bethan is gorgeous.

lovelyjubilly Mon 02-Dec-19 22:44:23

Love Rosalie, closely followed by Rosa

lovelyjubilly Mon 02-Dec-19 22:44:55

I also know a little Roselle which I think is lovely.

PixieN Mon 02-Dec-19 22:50:51

Rosita or Rosie.

Tillygetsit Mon 02-Dec-19 22:50:52

Rosa or Rosanna are my favourites.

FamilyOfAliens Mon 02-Dec-19 22:56:16

I love Rosemary, and you never hear it these days.

DD is Rosemary. It’s my absolute favourite name ever. She is a young adult now and goes by Rose.

Pieceofpurplesky Mon 02-Dec-19 22:58:47

Rosalie. If I had ever had a DD it would have been on the list.
Plus I am a massive Grimm fan!

CharitySchmarity Tue 03-Dec-19 22:26:46

I like Rosalie but I pronounce it Roz not Rose. If I was specifically trying to get the short form Ro, I think I'd go for Rowena, which I also like a lot.

CharitySchmarity Tue 03-Dec-19 22:27:25

PS - I've also known a Romana (not English, but I rather liked her name...)

newdeer Tue 03-Dec-19 22:29:13

I like Rosa best because I know two gorgeous Rosas and it's so pretty.

YolandiFuckinVisser Tue 03-Dec-19 22:29:41

DD is a Rosie. Her friends call her RoRo. Her brother calls her Roadkill

Nonnymum Tue 03-Dec-19 22:32:29

I think Rosa is the nicest or Rose. Rosalind.os also nice. You could still call her Rosie if you wanted to but it sounds more like a nickname than a name to last her whole life.

Ibloodylovewomen Wed 04-Dec-19 01:28:27

s3tut0y3r Fri 06-Dec-19 22:43:34

Aurora is shortened to Ro and very pretty, meaning Dawn. There are lots of Rosie's. It's nice to have a name that stands out...

bumblebee1987 Fri 06-Dec-19 23:08:40

We have a Rose! She suits it so much, she has big brown eyes, dark brown hair and fair skin, she's beautiful (disclaimer- She's only a baby and I may well be a little bit biased grin). Our Rose mostly gets called Rosie or I often call her Rosemary or Rosie-Marie. We often encounter people telling us that they used it as a middle name for their child, but it doesn't seem to be so popular as a first name for some reason. I think it is so classic and beautiful, and we have discovered that there is a huge array of songs with Rose in them, which we love as we're always singing them to her!

Cookit Sat 07-Dec-19 05:56:28

I like Rosalind, Rosamund and Rosalie.

wellyjin Sat 07-Dec-19 06:01:12

How about Rosalin.

Rowan's a boy's name!

emilybrontescorsett Sat 07-Dec-19 14:11:34

Out of them all I prefer Rose

mabel19 Sat 07-Dec-19 14:17:14

I knew a Rowenna who went by Ro

RosieposiePuddingandPi Sat 07-Dec-19 15:14:09

I have a baby Rosemary who we call Rosie or Roo. I love all the nicknames that she can have through her life (DS has a similar sort of name) and we've had a lot of comments on how nice her name is, how it's not used much anymore, etc.
I really love her name!

Leopardprintboots Sat 07-Dec-19 16:20:25

Did you make a decision OP? I love the simplicity of Rose on its own @Strangeinthenight

All the adult Rowan’s I know are girls. I live in england and know it’s unisex name here but in Scotland the name is shooting up the top 100 names for girls but doesn’t feature in the boys lists. Certainly a predominantly female name there and is used regularly for girls in US. I wouldn’t use this name though @Strangeinthenight as it’s too similar to the UK fastest rising top 100 name Roman. I work in paediatrics with newborns and there’s been a influx of Roman’s in 2019. Wasn’t surprised to hear it’s the fastest rising name for 2018. When there’s so many lovely names to choose from I’d probably avoid choosing one that is so similar to the fastest rising Uk boys name (it’ll be top 20 in the next years or so on current trajectory )

LittleDidSheKnow Sat 07-Dec-19 23:57:37

You couldn’t do much better than simply Rose; the most beautiful flower and fragrance in the world.

I do have my own Rose, though, so am biased. She is sometimes Rosie, and sometimes Rosebud.
