Blakesley yes or no

YourOpinionIsNoted Sun 24-Nov-19 17:34:36

Hell no.

Floralnomad Sun 24-Nov-19 17:34:43

No

Gazelda Sun 24-Nov-19 17:35:26

No. Apart from anything, it's very hard to say out loud.

onthecoins Sun 24-Nov-19 17:35:45

Awful.

Steamfan Sun 24-Nov-19 17:36:05

Puts me in mind of Pugsley

Loneranger14 Sun 24-Nov-19 17:37:12

Omg back to drawing board then I think

MrsFoxPlus4Again Sun 24-Nov-19 17:37:26

Do you mean Blakely? Blake is much better and less of an mouthful

00100001 Sun 24-Nov-19 17:38:17

No. Looks like a typo if Blakeley.

nitgel Sun 24-Nov-19 17:38:49

On the busesgrin

Thoughtlessinengland Sun 24-Nov-19 17:38:51

There was a thread recently on Blakeley that rightly saw the OP dissuaded. Blakesley is even worse.

Northernlurker Sun 24-Nov-19 17:39:17

Under no circumstances, do you have a temperature?

LolaSmiles Sun 24-Nov-19 17:39:25

Absolutely not. It sounds silly.

Aquamarine1029 Sun 24-Nov-19 17:39:33

Yeah, it's really bad.

Practicalmagico Sun 24-Nov-19 17:40:19

Oh my god that is horrific. I’m sorry but I’m laughing

Antigonads Sun 24-Nov-19 17:40:38

Can you get a few more letters in?

Biscuitsneeded Sun 24-Nov-19 17:41:02

Awful. I hate surnames used as first names but even worse if it's unpronounceable. Why not just Blake (which is still horrible but at least people can say it)? Sorry to be so blunt OP but this is a person not place name.

Loneranger14 Sun 24-Nov-19 17:49:17

I really like it but DP doesn't better than bloody neveah

DramaAlpaca Sun 24-Nov-19 17:50:34

Awful.

DivGirl Sun 24-Nov-19 17:51:08

Christ. No.

SwampOfDeath Sun 24-Nov-19 17:52:00

My friend's son is Blake. Nice, solid and puts one in mind of the great William Blake.

CodenameVillanelle Sun 24-Nov-19 17:52:33

No no and thrice no. Nevaeh almost as bad.

CodenameVillanelle Sun 24-Nov-19 17:53:58

What do you like about it? Is it the difficult to pronounce random S in the middle? The fact that your child wouldn't be able to pronounce it let alone spell it until they are 12? That nobody will ever know how to spell it and they will he spelling over the phone for their entire lives?
You're naming a person, not a pet

Jj2431 Sun 24-Nov-19 17:54:32

Terrible and so is nevaeh

Spied Sun 24-Nov-19 17:56:23

Blake- ok.
Blakesley- Nevaeh!

sue51 Sun 24-Nov-19 18:01:28

It doesn't sound like a first name. How about Brooke or Blaire - anything but Blakesley.

TheHumanSatsuma Sun 24-Nov-19 18:05:24

No!

GoldishLeafs Sun 24-Nov-19 18:12:37

Go with Blake! Then use Blakes as nickname.

lljkk Sun 24-Nov-19 18:14:04

It's tolerable I just think there's nicer names out there.
Spelling could vary, I'm a fan of boring names for easy spelling.

RossPoldark Sun 24-Nov-19 18:14:39

Are we talking about a boy or girl here? It's hideous for both but for a girl it is unforgivable

OverByYer Sun 24-Nov-19 18:15:00

Dreadful

AfterSchoolWorry Sun 24-Nov-19 18:15:05

It's so, so bad.

dontalltalkatonce Sun 24-Nov-19 18:15:42

No. Sounds made up and awkward.

NetballHoop Sun 24-Nov-19 18:18:55

Blakesley is the surname of a family I know. All their marriages (of the ones I have met) have fallen apart.

It's a no from me.

Pieceofpurplesky Sun 24-Nov-19 18:30:33

I have taught a Bexley which sounds much better I know it's a place but she shortened it to Bex.

Blakesley and Neveah are awful names. I teach a few Neveahs. It's sounds odd when said out loud.

Whoops75 Sun 24-Nov-19 18:32:42

Awful OP

otterturk Sun 24-Nov-19 18:44:35

Not a name

Thetimetravelerswife Sun 24-Nov-19 19:06:54

No!!

aibutohavethisusername Sun 24-Nov-19 23:03:26

No

SumAndSubstance Sun 24-Nov-19 23:49:43

There’s a whole world of names away from Blakesley and Nevaeh.

Treaclespongeandcustard Sun 24-Nov-19 23:51:30

Nope

Abouttoblow Sun 24-Nov-19 23:53:04

It's not even a word, never mind a name.

TiceCream Sun 24-Nov-19 23:55:46

Haha it made me think of Pugsley too!

BonBon411 Mon 25-Nov-19 02:23:49

Sorry the name is awful

dreichwinter Mon 25-Nov-19 03:05:57

Not for me, Blake seems a nicer version of this.

Wallywobbles Mon 25-Nov-19 03:24:52

I grew up there. Or there's about. It's a village in Northamptonshire.

Whattodoabout Mon 25-Nov-19 12:00:33

Horrible. I remember Blake and other names like Mason and Tyler being fashionable a few years ago. Surnames don’t make nice first names.

Blakesly? Is just made up.

CravingCheese Mon 25-Nov-19 12:12:48

No.
You mentioning Nevaeh (also a firm no from me, btw) seems to indicate that you are expecting a girl.

Blair and Blake are boy's names (to me) but they would work.

Or how about Morgan, Alex, Alexis, Nina, Annora, Honor, Heaven, Noelle, Rowan, Brooke, Robyn, Avery, Tamar, Mical, Audrey, Charlie, Rory, Maryn, Maryse, Portia or Quinn?

percheron67 Mon 25-Nov-19 17:32:19

OK as a surname.

MrsNoMopp Mon 25-Nov-19 18:02:17

Assuming baby is a girl, here are a few other short-ish names...

Naomi
Bethany
Olivia
Lucy
Maisie

DLaderBeal Mon 25-Nov-19 20:20:07

Not keen, sorry.

How about Everly? Or Hadley?

Supersimkin2 Mon 25-Nov-19 20:27:34

There's a thing called a Blakey which is a little iron stud you put on shoes to make the soles last longer.

Easier to pronounce?

PlasticPatty Mon 25-Nov-19 20:28:18

Horrible.

Blackley would be better. Harpurhey. Collyhurst, even.

How about Hale? If it's twins, Hale and Sale.

SilverySurfer Mon 25-Nov-19 20:58:38

Hideous, as is nevaeh.

imfreeezing Mon 25-Nov-19 21:12:13

God NO this is very similar to my mother's maiden name and I can't pronounce it properly!

Blake is nice enough

MollyHuaCha Tue 26-Nov-19 00:14:24

Terrible name

Hayls17 Tue 26-Nov-19 21:13:48

No. I like Blake though.

HatingTheBigShow Tue 26-Nov-19 21:44:08

Looks like two names needlessly joined together. Have you considered Brangelina? :D

CAG12 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:16:37

But why though? What is the fascination with trying to come up with super induvidual names?

My friend is called Blaize. She hates it.

30to50FeralHogs Wed 27-Nov-19 10:28:25

No sorry, Blakesley as a first name is terrible. Blake is nice but I know some people are snobby about names like that. Blakey just sounds like flaky and reminds me of those metal things on your shoes that make you sound like a tap dancer!

If you’re going to go with Nevaeh then you need to spell it ‘properly’ (as in Heaven spelled backwards) not Neveah, which is easier to pronounce but not how the name originally came about 20 years ago, and so meaningless.

If there’s one thing worse than being lumbered with a strange name that’s difficult to spell already, it’s having it on your birth certificate with another even more wrong spelling.

CravingCheese Wed 27-Nov-19 14:09:53

My friend is called Blaize. She hates it.

Blaise however is lovely. (for a boy, not a girl.)

CAG12 Wed 27-Nov-19 14:29:15

Shes a girl!

TurquoiseDress Thu 28-Nov-19 00:32:19

Er no

MandeLular Fri 29-Nov-19 17:04:54

Nope. But Blake is fine.

DelphiniumBlue Fri 29-Nov-19 17:08:09

Hahaha

doritosdip Fri 29-Nov-19 17:09:32

People will assume that Blake for a girl is after Blake Lively. I think it's fine for a boy but not great on a girl.

Nevaeh- just no

Chocmallows Fri 29-Nov-19 17:09:47

Absolutely awful

Chocmallows Fri 29-Nov-19 17:10:17

As bad as Chardonnay

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Fri 29-Nov-19 17:17:23

Bexley is a great name imo. Blakelsey is a mouthful.

Pinkblueberry Fri 29-Nov-19 17:17:53

Blake is nice. Blakely would be pretty naff. Blakesly though.... have you even tried saying it out loud?? What are you thinking?

helpmum2003 Fri 29-Nov-19 17:19:57

No

PineappleDanish Fri 29-Nov-19 18:43:37

Absolutely not.

And it doesn't matter if it;s a boy or a girl.

doritosdip Fri 29-Nov-19 21:57:15

I've been thinking about the name since I replied. Have you tried to combine 2 names (say Blake and Lesley/Blake and Lee) and come up with Blakesley?

PutThatDown10 Mon 02-Dec-19 06:02:54

Blake is an awful name, Blakesley is even worse. Nevaeh is such a joke of a name, I think it's just trashy.

Sexnotgender Mon 02-Dec-19 23:02:06

Awful.

ncqtime Mon 02-Dec-19 23:07:05

Try hard, weird, ridiculous

DidYouSayTea Sun 08-Dec-19 16:21:01

No that’s awful

kerkyra Sun 08-Dec-19 16:24:28

I live four miles away from a village called Blakesley.
It's actually quite a pretty girls name, never thought about it in that way

FizzyGreenWater Sun 08-Dec-19 16:55:41

I thought this was the Blakesey thread resurrected!

Blakesley even worse.

Sounds like a 1970s football manager.

Oh god no.

ballsdeep Sun 08-Dec-19 17:05:19

Is it even a name?!

OverthinkingThis Sun 08-Dec-19 17:08:13

No. Looks like a typo of Blakeley

This. Agree with you though OP Neveah is worse.

Leopardprintboots Mon 09-Dec-19 11:07:46

Really don’t like it

I like Blake or Brooke though

BikeRunSki Mon 09-Dec-19 11:09:14

No, but I like Blake
