I'm newly pregnant, so we don't know if we are having a boy or a girl.
We have one ds, Hector. We have quite a few ideas for boys' names, but can't agree on girls'.
The one name we both like is Aurora, nn Rory.
What do you think?
Is it chavvy or lovely? Is it too popular - the new Ella?
All opinions welcome.

Isn't the female version of Noah, Noa? Funnily enough I like Noa, but I detest Noah.

Emma for a boy has made me grin

I'm with you, @Leopardprintboots!

Leopardprintboots Sat 23-Nov-19 15:42:19

@DramaAlpaca yes I think that’s right but the little girls name is definitely spelt Noah ❤️

Not keen on aurora but love Rory non

BubblesBuddy Sat 23-Nov-19 23:26:17

You could consider Oriel, Aurelie, Aurielle?

Practicalmagico Sat 23-Nov-19 23:27:25

I love Aurora

Evilmorty Sat 23-Nov-19 23:28:30

I don’t like it because it takes a lot of lips to say it iyswim. It doesn’t just fly off the tongue.

I know of 3 auroras under 1 x

Staffori Sun 24-Nov-19 02:39:22

It's beautiful and personally I don't think it's chavvy because the only Aurora I know is borne of a very posh Canadian lady.

If you like the nickname Rory why don't you go for Lorelei? For inspiration just watch the Gilmore Girls grin

aibutohavethisusername Sun 24-Nov-19 23:11:00

Aurora is beautiful

Liverbird77 Mon 25-Nov-19 19:35:14

Thanks for your input, everyone.
We still have ages to decide but Aurora is defo the frontrunner at the moment.
Middle name under consideration is Blythe.
We both love the name and it works in both English and Spanish (dh is Spanish and we obviously have a Spanish surname).
Other names up for discussion:
Cosima ( he doesn't like it)

Moominfan Mon 25-Nov-19 21:26:10

Leonor is lovely what about lenorah?

TatianaLarina Mon 25-Nov-19 22:03:24

Love Cosima.

Leonor is too like Lenor.

Leopardprintboots Mon 25-Nov-19 22:28:19

Leonor ?! Like Lenor? No way sorry

I vote Aurora nn Rory - love that name

17caterpillars1mouse Mon 25-Nov-19 22:52:07

I really like Rory for a girl (definitely because of gilmore girls) but I just think Aurora sounds weak. I have met 3 Aurora's (1 9 year old and 2 toddlers) and I've not felt it suited any of them. Plus one dog (seems a weird name for a dog too)

17caterpillars1mouse Mon 25-Nov-19 22:56:02

Octavia a beautiful. I've only ever met one and she is also beautiful. She's 5

Leonor is a Spanish name. It is actually the name of the future queen.
We wouldn't associate it with Lenor, but maybe it would be the case in the UK. Thanks -that is worth considering.

Hector is gorgeous!
And I love the middle name Blythe.
How about:

TatianaLarina Tue 26-Nov-19 23:20:48

Leonor is a Spanish name.

So is Paloma but it means pigeon. Names don’t always don’t cross borders well.

Liverbird77 Wed 27-Nov-19 00:24:24

@TatianaLarina yeah, thanks for that.
We are half English/half Spanish so the children will spend a good proportion of their time in Spain.
Paloma can actually also be translated as "dove". I think it's quite nice!

123Dancewithme Wed 27-Nov-19 00:29:34

Aurora is quite trendy at the moment. I do think it is a bit chavvy.

Leonor is beautiful.

MandeLular Fri 29-Nov-19 21:23:20

Sounds awful in my accent (& I do pronounce my Rs - maybe too much?!) and the Disney link makes it a bit tacky.

MissHenty Fri 29-Nov-19 21:24:54

It’s such a beautiful name @Liverbird77 love Aurora ❤️

jackstini Fri 29-Nov-19 21:40:25

What about Leona instead,or Amoura/Amora? Love Blythe - is it a family surname?
