I love the name but i am worried it will not be very well socially received. Have you ever met one?

Herja Thu 21-Nov-19 09:26:47

I've met one! A younger sibling of DDs nursery friend. He must be about 3 now. I thought it was a lovely name, though he was the first I've met.

Go for it.

Astronica Thu 21-Nov-19 09:44:07

I like it.

I’ve read a book with a Zephyr in it, but she was female.
I quite like Zeph though.

JoJoSM2 Thu 21-Nov-19 09:55:52

It sounds cool.

I know somebody with a (female) horse called Zephyr so I wouldn't.... the name itself originates from the (male) Greek god of the west wind so not a female name originally....

DecomposingDurannie Thu 21-Nov-19 10:01:47

But I do like the name!

ilovetofu Thu 21-Nov-19 10:10:42

I think its fine
Are you or your DP Greek?

curiousp4rent Thu 21-Nov-19 10:52:42

Yes. he says it is not used much as a name there though

Wallabyone Thu 21-Nov-19 10:55:20

Zephyros is a slightly more used Greek name (not common though!)

The name Zephyr would cause juvenile sniggering in my family. As children we were banned from shouting out "fart alert" so in stead used to shout out "zephyr" as we found a dictionary definition of it as "a warm wind from the south".

Omashu Thu 21-Nov-19 12:16:03

I know a Zephyr, live it 🙂

Omashu Thu 21-Nov-19 12:16:14

Ugh I meant love it

Slappadabass Thu 21-Nov-19 12:22:38

Love it. Reminds me of red hot chili peppers!

BercowsFestiveFlamingo Thu 21-Nov-19 13:42:13

My dad had a Ford Zephyr car back in the day.

CravingCheese Thu 21-Nov-19 14:15:00

Love it.

PsychosonicCindy Thu 21-Nov-19 14:18:43

Love it!

Peachbubble Thu 21-Nov-19 15:49:09

I like it too

daisypond Thu 21-Nov-19 16:01:34

It’s OK, yes. Not my style but fine.

EleanorShellstrop100 Thu 21-Nov-19 16:08:31

I LOVE it! I actually love it so much I’m stealing it for my future lists. And you don’t have to be Greek to use the name of a Greek god hmm

maslinpan Thu 21-Nov-19 16:10:36

The only Zephyr I know is the monkey in the Babar the Elephant books.

MikeUniformMike Thu 21-Nov-19 16:33:36

Zephaniah might be less ' out there'

Singlenotsingle Thu 21-Nov-19 16:37:59

A Zephyr is a little breeze. Not really appropriate for a boy! Storm maybe? Hurricane? (Hurricane Smith). Typhoon? (Ty for short).

daisypond Thu 21-Nov-19 16:42:48

Zephyr was God of the West Wind.
