I knew a Boden. He was Polish and a lovely guy

Junobug Sun 17-Nov-19 21:43:28

I know a Boden. NN Bodhi. But we live in a very middle class area and it really doesn't feel like an odd name.

Ginger1982 Sun 17-Nov-19 21:48:16

I thought for a minute he was called Yikes...

Aquamarine1029 Sun 17-Nov-19 21:53:14

What's so horrible about Boden? There are plenty of much worse names out there.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys Sun 17-Nov-19 21:56:15

Boden is not an unusual surname, so no worse than calling your child Taylor or Mackensie

KenDodd Sun 17-Nov-19 21:56:56

I met someone once with a little Chanel and Armani (yes, really) so it could be worse.

There's a Plum on another thread.

Zolaaaaa Sun 17-Nov-19 21:59:30

Thought this was going to be about my niece at first. Her name is worse.

Mylittlepony374 Sun 17-Nov-19 22:01:10

I know a boy named "Lethal”.
Boden seems pretty normal to me.

SimplySteveRedux Sun 17-Nov-19 22:01:39

* thought for a minute he was called Yikes...*

I still would if I hadn't seen your post blush

There's a member of my extended family called Kia, nothing wrong with Boden.

Butterfly02 Sun 17-Nov-19 22:02:35

I googled this names meaning last week was in a name thread it's German for floor!
You were conceived on the floor hence your name!

Winterdaysarehere Sun 17-Nov-19 22:04:13

Just read a thread here today with poster who's dc is named Plum!!

braw Sun 17-Nov-19 22:12:56

I know of a couple of Beauden so Boden is at least easier to spell. Yikes is way better though. "Yikes! Your tea is ready!" "Yikes! Be careful on that swing" etc grin

whatwedointheshadows Sun 17-Nov-19 22:13:21

There's an All Black called Beauden, but they pronounce it Boden. I suspect that there will be quite a few Beaudens and Bodens here in New Zealand in the next few years. It's not for me, but I've heard much worse.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet Sun 17-Nov-19 22:14:41

I used to know a woman who thought it would be very sophisticated to name her daughter Chanel. Except the woman couldn't spell very well and the kid ended up being called Channel! Boden seems quite reasonable by comparison.

I've just finished reading This is going to hurt (Adam Kay) and one of the children he delivered (he was a gynaecologist) was called Sayton. Pronounced, yes, Satan.

CorBlimeyGovenor Sun 17-Nov-19 22:19:11

Hang on a minute. He's not called Boden! It should be quite obvious that he's actually called 'Hunter'!

middlemuddle Sun 17-Nov-19 22:19:53

I knew a Boden, the weirdest thing was that the street he lived on was of the same name just a different spelling.

Tistheseason17 Sun 17-Nov-19 22:24:28

It's ok - heard worse.

Branleuse Sun 17-Nov-19 22:26:33

Its actually an old celtic name

thebabessavedme Sun 17-Nov-19 22:29:35

Plum Sykes? she must be in her 50s now?

Majorcollywobble Sun 17-Nov-19 22:29:43

Mat finish ?

Lunde Sun 17-Nov-19 22:32:55

Boden is a town in Northern Sweden - not far from the arctic circle - dates back to the 1500s

Rubytinsleslippers Sun 17-Nov-19 22:34:27

I saw a ridiculous name video recently including ' Sssst '.... pronounced Forest.. 4 S's and a t....
