Has this name been ruined by the pig?

Does anyone like it? Or is it just too much?

Falafel19 Tue 22-Oct-19 20:41:13

Do you mean Peppa?

Falafel19 Tue 22-Oct-19 20:42:12

Posted too soon. Yes that name is ruined by the pig, what about Pippa though? That's lovely.

spice3 Tue 22-Oct-19 20:43:14

@Falafel19 I like it spelled Pepper rather than Peppa - I just wouldn't want to seem ridiculous especially after the pig! grin

Falafel19 Tue 22-Oct-19 20:45:18

Well, Pepper is a different word to Peppa, I'm Irish, the second syllable is said completely differently, Peppa is the pig, pepper is a condiment. And also, Pepper isn't a name really is it? Only one I've heard of is the old queen in Modern Family.

firstimemamma Tue 22-Oct-19 20:45:45

Even before the pig there's 'salt & pepper'. I'd be worried about teasing.

TweenageAngst Tue 22-Oct-19 20:46:42

I have a nice cat called Pepper.

AdaColeman Tue 22-Oct-19 20:49:46

Cayenne is much nicer, and you could make it more unique by spelling it Kay-N.

rosydreams Tue 22-Oct-19 20:53:08

isn't pepper the nickname for penelope

spice3 Tue 22-Oct-19 20:54:53

Oh no, my names aren't getting a good reception on these threads today grin

Thanks everyone!

Orchardgreen Tue 22-Oct-19 20:55:17

Nice for a whiskery dog

DramaAlpaca Tue 22-Oct-19 20:57:00

Good lord, no. You can't inflict that on a person.

BurnerPhone Tue 22-Oct-19 20:59:34

The I hope Pepper grows up to be a Dr

winniesanderson Tue 22-Oct-19 21:01:45

What about Piper? I love that name.

KJayne Tue 22-Oct-19 21:01:50

What a stupid name. Please don't name a child that

Figgygal Tue 22-Oct-19 21:03:31

If you don't want your child to have a ridiculous name don't give them one

Honestly pepper is completely different to peppa and neither are names for a human child

IceCreamConewithaflake Tue 22-Oct-19 21:05:26

Pepper is a very sneezy name.
It's also not a very exotic spice - it would be like calling a child Salt.

Thatnovembernight Tue 22-Oct-19 21:08:41

I like Piper and Pippa. Pepper would be a big no for me.

Flower17103 Tue 22-Oct-19 21:14:40

No way. Pepper. Your child is not a future seasoning. That is an embarrassing name.

VenusClapTrap Tue 22-Oct-19 21:15:49

Pepa is a Spanish girls name.
Peppa is a cartoon pig.
Pepper is a condiment.

PrincessScarlett Tue 22-Oct-19 21:20:08

I used to work with a girl called Pepper about 15 years ago. Absolutely everyone queried her name, how to spell it, she was mistakenly called Pippa amongst others. She was constantly pointing out she wasn't named after Peppa Pig as her name was spelt Pepper.

MrsMaryMooFace Tue 22-Oct-19 21:20:09

You've never seen American Horror Story then? There's a Pepper in the Asylum series... Not a great connotation thlconfused

Thefemalekeithrichards Tue 22-Oct-19 21:20:23

Was perfect for Angie Dickinson in ‘police woman’

Crocky Tue 22-Oct-19 21:20:24

Why do I hope your surname is Potts?

lotusbell Tue 22-Oct-19 21:21:13

Pepper Potts!

Wolfiefan Tue 22-Oct-19 21:21:29

It’s great. For a Schnauzer.

NationMcKinley Tue 22-Oct-19 21:21:53

Pippin Galadriel Moonchild is better

spice3 Tue 22-Oct-19 21:23:00

@MrsMaryMooFace never, but did give it a quick google......

@lotusbell my DP likes it purely for this reason!

Runningsmooth Tue 22-Oct-19 21:23:11

I like it. Wasn't there a Pepper in Annie?

millymae Tue 22-Oct-19 21:26:59

Surely not - I’m usually pretty laid back when it comes to names but today we’ve had Revel and now Pepper.
I know names are just sounds and children have no preconceptions, but I would be embarrassed to be called either of these.

Fallofrain Tue 22-Oct-19 21:32:24

I actually dont consider myself out there and have very pedestrian name choices....

But i like pepper!

Although i wonder if there might be a spicy/ sexy connotation?

bakesalesally Tue 22-Oct-19 22:08:27

Oh for goodness sake!!!confusedhmmshock
This is a nickname and not something to be officially inflicted upon an actual person for the rest of their life.

Please give your child a decent, acceptable name and then call the child by a nick name. That way, they have the choice as an adult to decide what they prefer.

OnTopOfTheWardrobe Tue 22-Oct-19 22:37:25

I dislike seasoning names like Pepper, Sage or whatever other nonsense (sure there must be a baby Tumeric somewhere...)
Pepper s just associated with the pig. Don't do it.

ViserionTheDragon Tue 22-Oct-19 22:42:21

It's up there with Balonz gin.

StrawberryPi Tue 22-Oct-19 22:53:33

In Spanish Pepa is a nickname for Maria Jose, does that appeal?

Runkle Tue 22-Oct-19 22:58:34

I know a Guinea pig called Pepper.

megletthesecond Tue 22-Oct-19 23:01:04

It's cute but not a proper name.
Call her Penelope. Then, if you must, you can use Pepper for her nickname.

TheJoxter Tue 22-Oct-19 23:01:20

Could have it as a nickname for Philippa, that way they can become pippa if they don’t like pepper

TheJoxter Tue 22-Oct-19 23:01:41

Or Penelope as another poster just said

PrincessHoneysuckle Tue 22-Oct-19 23:06:31

Google pepper from American horror story and I guarantee you wont want to use it grin

FizzyGreenWater Tue 22-Oct-19 23:13:28

How about Condimentia, Pepper for short

MissLadyM Tue 22-Oct-19 23:21:52

My best friend is called Pepper! I love it and have never thought of the pig!

DontCallMeShitley Tue 22-Oct-19 23:40:11

How about Capiscum?

Astronica Wed 23-Oct-19 03:29:23

I like it. And I like it as a nickname for Penelope.

Topseyt Wed 23-Oct-19 03:36:44

I do like a bit of pepper, on food and with salt. I would find it a very strange choice of name indeed.

Awful. Just don't.

Littledidsheknow Wed 23-Oct-19 08:02:13

No. It’s too mundane and everyday.

Would be better to go for “Paprika.”

SaharaSunset Wed 23-Oct-19 08:05:50

In all seriousness, I always think of Pepper Potts from Iron Man not the Pig

MrsElijahMikaelson1 Wed 23-Oct-19 08:06:47

Is it you who also wanted Revel?

Just give your kid a normal name

CaptainTurdseye Wed 23-Oct-19 08:08:52

Pepper’s a character in AHS

Sally99 Wed 23-Oct-19 08:09:51

It's a nice name for an animal. Sorry!

Starryskiesinthesky Wed 23-Oct-19 08:10:08

Kay-N 😆

OkayGoooouuuuuullllll Wed 23-Oct-19 08:10:08

Sorry op I'm not sure I like it. Or Revel or Everest 😬

MustardScreams Wed 23-Oct-19 08:10:28

I love it! There’s a girl that works in the local houseplant store called Pepper and she is one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met, so that’s probably why I like it so much!

parkersnose Wed 23-Oct-19 08:12:31

I love it. There was a pepper in neighbours years ago I believe. I wouldn't use it because of Peppa though.

maggienolia Wed 23-Oct-19 08:13:56

My gerbil was called Pepper. Not keen on it for a human though

user1493494961 Wed 23-Oct-19 08:24:46

It's ridiculous.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook Wed 23-Oct-19 08:29:56

Love it.

user1493494961 Wed 23-Oct-19 08:30:36

Put a baby name book on your Christmas list.

spice3 Wed 23-Oct-19 08:35:05

@user1493494961 I'm due 2 days after... might be a bit late wink

KatherineJaneway Wed 23-Oct-19 08:36:52

I think Pepper Potts.

Frith2013 Wed 23-Oct-19 19:04:55

Pepper? Don’t be silly.

AthollPlace Wed 23-Oct-19 19:07:07

Reminds me of Pepper from American Horror Story. Not really someone you want to name a child after.

zurigirl Wed 23-Oct-19 21:15:34

I think it's cool! But I do like Marvel movies... I'd never think of the pig, because it's spelled differently!

horse4course Wed 23-Oct-19 21:32:03

But what if she becomes a sultan one day?

Wolfiefan Wed 23-Oct-19 21:47:56

A Sultan? That’d be pushing it. Pushing it real good. grin

FluffyAlpaca19 Wed 23-Oct-19 22:25:29

It's not a name for a human, it's a vegetable and the name of a fictional pig. Change your name to pepper if you like it so much but please don't inflict it on a child who'll have to go through school.

TeddyToaster Wed 23-Oct-19 22:26:54

Definitely a cute nickname but please don't use it as a formal name.

All suggestions for if you like 'P' names. X

SlothRunner Wed 23-Oct-19 22:33:29

I know a cat called pepper. He is a bit wild and good at catching rats

Awwlookatmybabyspider Thu 24-Oct-19 10:54:57

As long as you promise to call your next one Georgewinkgrin

Ahundredpercentthatbitch Thu 24-Oct-19 10:57:02

I met a woman called Pepper once. She was a porn model.

I wouldn’t.

MrsCharlesBrandon Thu 24-Oct-19 11:01:01

@NationMcKinley grin

RolytheRhino Thu 24-Oct-19 11:03:26

I like it. Works well for Pepper Potts. Not brave enough to use it myself though.
