(69 Posts)Almost 34 weeks with a baby girl and going round in circles with names. DH is not very good at making suggestions but very good at saying no. We have also tried to involve our DS who is almost 8 but it seems getting 3 people to agree is even harder than 2!
Please can I have opinions on the below and any suggestions for similar sounding ones that we may not have thought of?
Seren Isobel (Ren for nn) - top contender for a while but have been having a wobble the last few days.
Remi Isobel (Remi Belle) - worried about it being viewed as a boys name but at the same time still really like it.
Emmie - love it but DH doesn’t.
Etta - same as above. DH says no way!
Also quite like:
Lori
Erin
Lenna
Leni (stolen from another thread)
As you can see we seem to like short and also the ‘emi/eni’ sounds... help me please!
Love Etta. Seren is nice. Don’t particularly like Remi or Emmie, they sound like nicknames.
DH says there will be absolutely no convincing him on Etta and I can’t find any full names it could be short for that I like
What about Rumi/Romy?
Seren Isobel is quite lovely and my favourite of your list. Erin is nice and my second choice.
Another vote here for Seren Isabel! If I hadn't already had my name picked I think I would have been discussing that for the list with my OH! Very pretty and unique
@Marlena1 I have thought about Rumi/Romi but I think I prefer the ‘en/em’ sound to ‘um/om’
Thanks @Astronica I do still really like it. Not sure why the slight wobble. Haven’t fully managed to get DS on board as apparently there is a water monster called Serren in his Zelda game 😂
My grandmother was called Henrietta but everyone called her Etta.
Seren Isobel is the best in your list by far. Don't overthink it!
Seren Isobel is beautiful!
I love your name choices. Shame your dh doesn't like Etta.
Eden
Lenorah
Elodie
Marin
Eleanor
Camille
Zola
Marnie
Rosalin
Frida
Valentina
What about Remi
I prefer Eleni or Elena to Leni. How about Emmeline or Elise?
Thanks everyone, maybe I just need to sit on it for a week or so and come back to Seren. I think I am overthinking it!
@strawbmilk Remi was on my list?
@Peachbubble thanks for the suggestions - Emmeline shortened to Emmie could be a contender too
Seren is lovely as is Erin. I know a Denise that shortens it to Deni in case that's one you haven't considered. Also Wren may fit your criteria.
Good luck! We found naming our DS so hard x
Seren Isobel is so lovely! Think I'd go with this. Though can you see what she looks like when she's born? I know people who have been pretty set on a name but gone for something completely different on meeting the baby.
I love love Etta. I've been thinking I might use it next time.
Etta is so lovely - have you tried:
Juliet
Verity
Odette
Colette
Well, you both have to agree so rule out the ones your DH doesn't like. I'm with him on Etta, by the way. I wouldn't be involving a sibling in naming a baby, either, it just confuses matters.
Seren Isobel is beautiful. Don't overthink it.
I only like Erin, but do love Etta as a nn for Juliet. If ds had been a girl, that's what he would've been called. I don't like it on its own though... don't know why! It seems a bit 'of the moment's, like Betsy, Elsie, Sadie etc. So I think it will date.
'Of the moment'
Thanks everyone!
@mondler we were thinking we could use Ren as nn for Seren. Also DS loves Remi so to pacify him we said he could use Reni as his nn for her. So Seren does seem to be a good all rounder too!
Agree @DramaAlpaca that we have to agree so it’s likely I have to let Etta go as he really isn’t keen.
Also, Serena nn Reni?
Erin is my favourite.
Have you thought of Wren rathen than Seren nn Ren?
I prefer Serena, but overall Seren Isobel is great.
