What are your thoughts on the names Lisbet and Bethan (not together obviously)

I love them both although Lisbet will always make me think of The Queen - but then I'm old enough to watch those Royal documentaries that state that's her family's nickname for her.

Also heard the name Bethia this week - I like that too.

Personally I prefer Elizabeth to either.

Lisbet is stupid

I think Lisbet is very well known to be the Queens childhood nickname. And nothing else. Unless you’re an enthusiastic royalist I can’t see why you would consider it.

Bethan is classic. I’d have considered it myself if I could say my 'ths' properly Grin

Not keen on either but don’t hate them - Bethany is lovely.

The Queen's nickname was Lilibet, not Lisbet - but the latter does very much sound like a pet name diminutive, not a 'real' name. Much better call the child Elizabeth, you might begin with that nickname but it gives her so many other options when if she decides it's too babyish. Beth, Liz etc etc.

Bethan is fine, especially if you have Welsh heritage.

Actually the queen was known as Lilibet.

I thought the queen was Lilibet as a child. Lisbet is a cutesy let name for a child but I would give her the option of Elizabeth for when she's older.
Bethan is a great name.

Elizabeth or Bethany or Elspeth

Lisbet sounds made up. I prefer Elspeth

I don’t like Bethan

My daughter's middle name is Lisbeth (pronounced Lizbut). I love it. The end.

Both really ugly. Bethan is my cousins name and I usually love a name once I know someone with it. But I've never grown to like Bethan. She's 21 now so I don't think it'll ever happen. And yeah, Lisbet is stupid. It reminds me of "I'm Mrs. Nesbitt" from toy story!

Oh haha, shows what I know. It’s the first thing that jumped to my mind though, so I still don’t like it Grin

I like Bethan. Lisbet is ok as a nn for Elizabeth.
