Really sorry for posting so many threads but this naming malarkey is hard work & I love the brutal honesty I can get here !

Please let me know what you think of these for a boy. We’d also like a name that doesn’t scream a particular class (any) - are we achieving that?

I'd be more worried about popularity than 'class' (whatever that is supposed to mean).

I d choose Peter or Robin. Both strong classic names.

Arthur is way too popular imo.

Said it before and I'll say it again - Peter. Would be my DS's name if it wasn't already my brother's. Adorable on a baby and grows with them. Classic but not commonly used. Rowan is my fantasy daughter name!

Rowan - an archbishop, warm, kind, quirky.
Arthur - secondhand car dealer. Wide boy. Common.
Peter - reliable, traditional, a leader, dependable
Robin - either a December baby or a bit wet. A bit of an outsider.

My 1st vote definitely Rowan

(personally, I think it works equally well for a boy or girl.
I just immediately think 'nature name'.

Love its 'Tree Of Life' connection to Celtic mythology, and what's not to like about courage, wisdom and protection?)

I'd pick Rowan as the best from that list although I don't love it. Arthur is really overused I think. Robin and Peter are up there with Thomas in terms of really wet names!

I really like Arthur Robin and Peter

Though I do like Rowan it is very similar to other names which are dramatically rising in popularity of the past couple of years in particular RoMan but also RoHan and RoNan.
The name RoMan is about to enter the top 50 names in the uk and shows no sign of slowing so it depends if you mind being asked “is that RoMan with an M or a W?” (As I’ve heard people asking at my local playgroup). Again, a couple of years ago this wouldn’t have been an issue but it’s only going to get worse because there’s a couple of famous RoMans which I think is driving the names popularity (radio and YouTuber)

I also agree that rowan is quite feminine and also a girls name. Depends if you mind that. I don’t really mind myself.

How about Ralph or Jasper or Otis or Wilfred?

Arthur is popular already but it’s a classic

Rowan is dramatically increasing in popularity (now well within top 100) and may date very quickly (together with RoMan and RoHan)

Peter and Robin are more rare nowadays but are classics that won’t date

I like Arthur and Peter best. Arthur is stylish right now and Peter is more low-key and traditional. I've known so many Robin/Robyns as girls I just can't picture it on a boy, though Robin and Rowan are both okay.
