Baby names

Stan or Percy

We both like both names but I prefer Percy. Dh also likes Arthur but I know a few adult ones and it’s puts me off.

Am open to suggestions for names you think I’d like, this is my 7th baby!

All have traditional/old fashioned names and oldest two are in top ten, two are less common and two are names that aren’t common at all but are still proper names.

Dh says my name style is 1920s peaky blinder style names Grin I can see what he means, old fashioned working class kind of names.

I’m sorry, but the name Percy makes me think of a bloated, red faced pervert type.

Lol no apologies needed Smile

I’ve never met a Percy and it doesn’t really bring anything to mind for me. I have big blonde chubby babies so I suppose I just imagine a big chubby blonde boy called Percy lol sometimes in a flat cap Grin

I like Percy - mainly because of Percy Weasley (die-hard HP fan). Stan makes me think of the maintenance man from Victoria Wood's comedy dinnerladies, so I am less keen on that.

I also like Arthur - again the Weasley connection.

If you go with percy hes going to get called percy pig, like the very, very popular m&s sweets. Please dont subject him to that.

I do feel like they are all Grandad names but they will go with all the little Doris and Ethels.
How about Lennie short for Leonard?

Percy is awful. There is a reason why no one uses this name! Dreadful.

I'm not sure I could use Stan because I love Eminem and it makes me think of that song!

But that's silly of me especially as your little one will grow up in a generation who aren't that familiar with Eminem.

It's actually a really nice name that can grow with a kid from baby to grown up so if you don't make the rap connection I'd go for it Thanks

Stan is in a different league to Percy! I love it. I had it on my list. I feel like Percy just sounds so weak.

went to school with a boy called Lonnie back in the 70's, and have always loved this name.
