My partner and I only agree on some names.
We both agree Imogen is a 'nice name' but I don't love it (no sure my partner feels that strongly either).
So my question is.... What are your thoughts on the name imogen?
And can names grow on you?

I could potentially fall in love with it! Or not! hmm but I appreciate it is a pretty name.

I absolutely love it! Beautiful name x

Thank you for the reply! I think actually it helps when you get positive feedback x

I love Imogen but not keen on Immy. It feels incomplete somehow and sounds too much like Amy.

Silverman Sat 31-Aug-19 12:24:29

Yep my partner doesn't like immy either but I like it! But I suppose any nn develops naturally. I do think it's a very pretty/strong/classy name.

I love it. I have a niece called Imogen and she is usually Mim for short.

LOVE IT! Wanted to use it but exh had an ex girlfriend with that name so it would have been weird to use it. Think it’s gorgeous.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger.... Mim is lovely!

Thatnovembernight how unfortunate!
I actually really like my husbands ex wife's name too.... That would definitely be a no go

Love it. Love Mim for nn. Also I've seen Ginny, Meg and Meggy as nns.

Silverman Sat 31-Aug-19 12:44:05

Hadn't thought of Ginny but love it!
Sounds sophisticated x

Pinkblueberry Sat 31-Aug-19 12:55:02

Imogen is nice - I know someone with an Imogen and she calls her ‘Immy’ which I think it very cute.

Sparklingsunflower Sat 31-Aug-19 12:55:56

I find it harsh and unfeminine, sorry.

MotherOfTheNoise Sat 31-Aug-19 12:56:56

I have an Imogen, so obviously we love it! She has many nicknames, mainly GinGin, Mim and unfortunately Immy at school from teachers.

Creatureofthenight Sat 31-Aug-19 13:02:06

I like it. Funny that you think of it as unfeminine Sparkling, it comes from a misspelling/misprint of the Celtic name Innogen, which means girl or maiden!

TheRLodger Sat 31-Aug-19 13:13:12

I love it / apparently I was going to be called Imogen. Quite often wish I had been

MollyHuaCha Sat 31-Aug-19 13:21:28

Love this name.

MrsMozartMkII Sat 31-Aug-19 13:23:13

Very pretty name.

Mintypea5 Sat 31-Aug-19 13:23:43

We're calling our baby due November Imogen. I adore it! It's a name I never even considered before but I've fallen completely in love with it. We're planning on Immy as a nn smile

MrsGilly1 Sat 31-Aug-19 14:21:17

It's a nice name but if you don't love it then don't use it! Use a name you do like and that your partner likes too.

Other suggestions...

maryannay Sat 31-Aug-19 14:23:33

I'm not keen, sorry. But what matters is whether YOU and you partner love it!

AverageMummy Sat 31-Aug-19 14:26:19

It’s lovely

Kublai Sat 31-Aug-19 14:26:36

Lovely name.

NoSauce Sat 31-Aug-19 14:33:59

I find it quite harsh sounding. I don’t like Immy. You need to find a name you love.

MissHenty Sat 31-Aug-19 15:04:25

Love it so so much. Not too rare not too common.
So many nn potentials too. Know of someone that uses “Imo” - nice!
Honestly once you attach it to your child I’m sure you’ll love it

laughingnow Sat 31-Aug-19 15:08:45

I have an Imo.
The name comes from Shakespeare.
