Is there a name you didn’t use because it was just too quirky or “out there” but still love?

I loved Starr, Juniper and Skye, DH vetoed! (Don’t even think those are that quirky, tbh.)

There were plenty of suggestions from DH that weren't even considered

Our twin are Juniper and Tabitha. I liked the name Junia but DP thought it sounded too much like ‘Junior’ so Juniper was the less quirky option. Then I also love Tallulah but it gets such awful reactions so Tabitha was an alternative to that.

I love Ptolemy but would never be brave enough to use it, I can just imagine the faces of friends and family.

Ariadne, it just seemed too much.

Ptolemy. I love it, dh loves it, but we just weren’t brave enough

Io for my second daughter. It would've really suited her too. Darn it.

Never got a chance to deliberately not use it as I made boys, but would have been vetoed.

happydinosaur I taught a gorgeous girl called Ariadne this year. It's a beautiful name!

Another fan of Cosmo. Ended up going for something fairly quirky, there were less than 50 children given the same name in the year DS was born, but wish we'd gone for Cosmo.

DS2 due in a few weeks and he will be Eden. I'm genuinely amazed DH went for that, but given his only alternative suggestion was Percival, I think Eden is definitely preferable to that!

Cyril (!?!)

I go a bit loony with names when I’m pregnant!

I liked Leaf before I realised that it's pronounced more like Life for ds2 Rainbowknickers - would be the biggest naming cock-up ever to wildly mispronounce your own child's name!

Also love Artemis as mentioned above.

nothingsreallynewunderthesun Sat 17-Aug-19 21:46:28

Leif sorry - I thought it was pronounced Leaf but it's pronounced more like Life

Feverslag Sat 17-Aug-19 21:46:53 it but the nickname would be cruel

Pixie - it would have suited our very slight DD but not youngest DS (if he'd been a girl) as he has a much bigger frame.

Still love the name though smile

Thor. Really loved it as a baby name but DH vetoed so we went with something traditional instead.

Glitterkitten24 Sat 17-Aug-19 22:00:52

Not too quirky- but too Scottish for my DH (We are Scottish, living in Scotland). 🙄

I loved both Ruiridh and Eilidh, both vetoed as they’d ‘spend their life spelling their name out.’
I still love both names.
