Hiya, everyone! Recently I've been toying with the name Remi for a girl, and have been putting up polls and asking for opinions on some websites. I just think it's such a nice name. Cute and simple, not so out there, but still very much a real name. But I keep getting mixed reviews from everyone; some people absolutely adore it, and some say it's a guy's name. I know a number of women who are named Remi, so that was a bit of a surprise.

Have you guys ever met a Remi in your life? What do you think of the name?

It reminds me of the rat in ratatouille

As you done several polls and got the same outcome each time, you already have your answer.

If you like the name use it! You know that lots of people also like it. You also know that others think it's a boy's name. If that bothers you, dont use it.

I have never met a Remi or Remy. Are you in the UK? Is Remi pronounced Reemee?

The one I know is Remy to rhyme with semi (as in semi-detached)

Well youll always get mixed reviews with names. Not everyone is going to like every name, are they.
If you like it why does anyone else's opinion matter

There was a girl in my 11 year olds class called Remi. I quite like it. Unusual but not unknown which makes it quite good really.

I'm France it was quite a common boy's name, spelled Remy, and I knew a few when I lived there. I know one girl who is Remy-something (best not say) and it's lovely and she is lovely.

I like the sound of it, but it just reminds me of the childhood insult 'remmy' - although this might have been just my area as I don't hear it anymore (thank god!)

I do think of it as more of a male name, but not to the extent that it would be problematic.

Yes, I used to work with a Remi. He’s a half French/half Israeli man, so is definitely a boy’s name for me.

I love it, but prefer the spelling 'Remy', personally.

My step mom is called Remi, she's from the Philippines. Wonderful lady and I think the name is simple and sweet. My daughter's both have unisex names and very 'out there' but we love them!

Don't worry what people think as long as it's not offensive and the child won't suffer because of it.

I know a British female Remi and an American Male Remy. Both 30-something.

I really like it for a girl.

I know three children called Remi's (Remi, Remy & Remington) all are girls, but in other cultures it's more common as a boys name.

Personally I don't like it as a name - simultaneously a bit bland and a bit try hard.
None of the children I know called Remi come from families I'd let a child go for a sleepover with though which probably does influence it for me (proper reasons - drugs, violence, not just snobbery Blush)

There was a male Remy in House of Cards (sleazy business man) and a female Remy in House (attractive doctor who developed Huntingdon’s) and then the rat in ratatouille!

Those 3 are all I can think of, don’t know any personally but quite like it!
