Honest opinions on Edith please...

Not that we should be adding to our ridiculously long girl's list but I've been liking it a lot recently... I'm curious to know how well received it is. Thanks!

Love it. I only know one, she's almost two. I could see it growing in popularity over the next few years but not so much it would put you off.

Really like it

GreatDuckCookery Sun 19-Aug-18 20:56:27

I can't stand it. Harsh and ugly to me although I know most posters will disagree grin

Really pretty.

I’ve always liked it, even before old fashioned names were “in” again, but DH hated it so didn’t use it.

pixieloux Sun 19-Aug-18 21:04:10

@yellowplumpreserves My DH actually likes it and he's hard to please with the old fashioned names lol.

pixieloux Sun 19-Aug-18 21:05:01

@GreatDuckCookery I'm shocked that more people seem to like it than not, to be honest.

She will get Edie, which is far lovelier.

I love it

It’s my mums name and she hates it with a passion (she was named after her mum) and has always used her middle name. Definitely an old lady name to me and not in a cute old fashioned way.

DramaAlpaca Sun 19-Aug-18 21:17:27

Very frumpy & dreary.

NuffingChora Sun 19-Aug-18 21:20:09

I like it! Classic name, unusual these days without being weird, easy to spell, hard to mispronounce, nickname options if that’s your scene, and definitely don’t think it’s particulalry dreary or frumpy, especially when compared to a lot of the other ‘old lady’ names which are having a resurgence. Solid choice.

Love it

Love it. I know an 8 month old Edith and she is always Edith, not Edie which I think is lovely

whathaveiforgottentoday Sun 19-Aug-18 21:37:11

Love it and love it's shortened version of Edie too.

n0ne Sun 19-Aug-18 21:48:36

Adore it

Crunchymum Sun 19-Aug-18 21:49:14

Horrible name.

Crunchymum Sun 19-Aug-18 21:50:40

Just pissing with you.

We have a baby Edith. We use both Edith and Edie.

InfiniteCurve Sun 19-Aug-18 21:55:53

I love Edith,and I know a little Edith,she's a sweetie!

pixieloux Sun 19-Aug-18 21:59:41

We'd probably use Edie as a shortened form but it would definitely seem too nicknamey against our other children's names if used on it's own. Not that we'd plan to... I love Edith, the lovely Edie is a bonus to it!

I love old lady names! Our DDs have then but ones that seem to be getting quite popular now and are apart of the comeback crew lol.

newnamechange1234 Sun 19-Aug-18 22:46:24

Have you thought about Eden, if you like Edie?

formerbabe Sun 19-Aug-18 22:52:22

Awful...I quite like an old fashioned name but Edith is unspeakably frumpy and ugly sounding.
