Keith?

Is there an alternative/ shortening for Keith?

My DP is keen to use it to honour a family member of his but I really don’t like it. He’s happy to go with a variation i.e. Jonnie instead of Jonathan or Cate instead of Catherine but that just doesn’t seem to exist for Keith.

At a push he might go for a different name but same meaning.

I can’t have a baby Keith (just FYI he’s not insisting on it)

Don't think so and please don't name him Keith!

A little baby Keith Grin Tbf it's probably just not old enough to be fashionable yet but still!

Could it be a middle name?

Middle name. There is no other option here.

I love it! The world needs more Keiths.

It's actually objectively quite a nice name both on paper and sound wise.

But unless he is going to come out of your uterus as a 54 year old accountant, you can't call him Keith!

Apparently it means forest. Forrest is actually quite nice but everyone would tell your kid to run! Yes, I agree with maybe using it as a middle name?

That’s what I thought 😞 I fear it’s in the Malcolm category, you’re just not going to get too many baby Malcolm’s are you?

The world doesn't need anymore Keiths, trust me.

Forrest is a nice substitute, I know Kit is short for another name but it suits for your purposes I think.

He'd probably be the only one in his class.

I saw a picture of a Keith, a pupil at our local public school.
Years ago I knew a Graham Keith, always known as GK. Perhaps you could come up with something like that.

I like Forest as a middle name maybe but I don’t think we could really pull that off

I know a 13 yr old Keith.

Only adults comment on his name; kids don’t.

My dad was a Keith and we used it as a middle name for ds , would have been his first name but that would have caused dh issues with his family

Kiefer? ( I know everything will think of Sunderland though... )
Keane?
Or have Key as a shortened version nn

MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2018 19:04

Using Kiefer or Keane to honour a Keith is insulting.

Our (female) cat is called Keith sorry that’s unhelpful but ds2 who is 8 would love to meet a baby Keith. He is a huge fan of the name has been since picked it at two for any kittens he may get.

I know a toddler with Keith as a middle name, his DM uses his full name quite often when he's naughty Grin
Sounds fine, there's loads of names making a come back, I predict you won't be able to move for Keiths, Normans, Nigels etc. soon, be ahead of the curve!

Well no one can say I didn’t try. Kit doesn’t feel close enough to be a reference to Keith, if only his family member was called Christopher then it would have been so much easier 😬😄
