If you go for a long name it will give more choice in terms of Nicknames Esmeralda is the more unusual one the other's are quite popular if that bothers you Eliza is the most Classic out of your list Penelope being Second...

Penelope is such a beautiful name! And it's a bonus if you like all the nicknames. We ended up with a name that couldn't be shortened because I hated all the nicknames that came with it haha.

Happy name choosing!

Alessia

Zara is my favourite, followed by Eliza, then Penelope. Alessia is nice but I could see her constantly having to spell her name out.

Eliza by a long way

Eliza is the nicest.

I'd find Alessia strange if you weren't Italian.

Eliza is very classic.

1 GP is Italian, lots of Latin and heavy catholic stuff in my family, although we have DH surname and that would be very English (think smith) so maybe Alessia should be out?

He’s just suggested Elicia / Alicia
Which I love as El-iss-ee-ah, but would that not be pronounced Elisha?

How about Alyssa, it's very pretty, and less complicated ! 😄

Agree with @Sugarpiehoneyeye

I like them all except Esme(ralda) - too frilly spelled out, too bland as the short form.
Prefer Penelope shortened to Nell. I don't like Penny at all.
Zara and Eliza are really nice.
Alessa instead of Alessia? But this is probably my favourite, along with Penelope.

I really like Esme :)

Alicia can be spelt aleesha or alissia. If you want to be sure it's spelt the second way then name her Alissia, but if you want it spelt Alicia, you'll only have to tell people once then they'll know how you pronounce and spell it 🙂 A friend of mine has a daughter called Alissa, that's similar and pretty 🙂

Dottieroses · 20/07/2018 09:23

Sorry that should say Alicia can be PRONOUNCED aleesha or alissia* not spelt 🙂

Report
Dottieroses · 20/07/2018 09:25

And should say if you want to make sure it's pronounced the second way, not spelt the second way. Sorry, I'm not sure what's wrong with me this morning! 😂

Not Elicia please. It's as bad as Alyvia.

Penelope is cute and I like Nell for a nn.
