Thoughts on Keturah? Do you know any? Nickname ideas?

MariaMadita Mon 18-Jun-18 10:20:21

I like it. Rahrah/Rara and Ketty/Kitty are nice nns smile

Kezia, Zipporah, Yael and Kerenza (I know, not biblical) have a similar feel imo.

I like it with Kitty for short.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys Mon 18-Jun-18 11:24:53

I like it--what's its origin?
I'd go for Ketty rather than Kitty as a short version
(my autocorrect suggested Jetty!)

I like it. It's in my family tree a few times in the early 1800s. As pps have said, the nickname could be Kitty or Ketty.

I looked up the meaning a while ago and iirc, it means "incense" and is from the bible.

It sounds like a Thundercat.
But that's probably just because I've never heard it before. If it's a known name in your culture I'm sure it's fine.

It might get shortened to Ket, as in ketamine but if you're not worried about that then it's nice

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 18-Jun-18 13:27:20

Keziah ?

KirstenRaymonde Mon 18-Jun-18 13:28:32

Ive never heard of this name, what are it’s origins?

MariaMadita Mon 18-Jun-18 13:31:19

Keturah is biblical /

A wife of Abraham (who sent away their sons), I believe...

SleepingStandingUp Mon 18-Jun-18 14:02:52

Sorry but it looks like it sounds like catarrh

lynmilne65 Mon 18-Jun-18 15:32:46

Awful ( sorry )

EssentialHummus Mon 18-Jun-18 15:38:27

I'm not a fan, sorry.

Flamingosnbears Mon 18-Jun-18 15:42:33

My nephew had one in his class about 10 years ago never come across another with my own children but it is unusual (enough for me to remember anyway)

Tonicwaterandgin Mon 18-Jun-18 15:42:51

I know a teenage Keturah, she has siblings with also unusual biblical names so it doesn't stand out in the family. She gets sick of explaining / spelling as most people have never heard of it.

eurgh Mon 18-Jun-18 16:11:12

Oh no, the first thing I thought was Ket, as in the common nasty drug. And the boys who walk around with hairstyles called ket wigs, sorry OP avoid avoid avoid

SleepingStandingUp Mon 18-Jun-18 16:47:42

That would be an unfortunate nickname.

Jasmina456 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:05:24

Ket is synonymous with Ketamine to me, so I wouldn't. Ket/Ketty would be awful nicknames!

I love Kezia though.

Jasmina456 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:05:49

Keturah also sounds rather like "Caterer" to me.

Jasmina456 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:06:03

So on that basis, no.

MariaMadita Mon 18-Jun-18 19:07:38

It's nice if it's pronounced like Ke-too-rah. And not caterer wink

CurlyhairedAssassin Mon 18-Jun-18 19:13:58

Not a fan. It sounds like a cross between a sneeze and a cough.

Octopeppa Mon 18-Jun-18 19:40:27

Not keen, sorry.

GinIsIn Mon 18-Jun-18 19:42:02

It sounds like someone sneezing....

helpmum2003 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:47:46

Sorry I wouldn't choose due to pronunciation /drug nickname/spelling issues sad
