Obviously I've named changed as this is completely outing.

Trying to decide on a name for our second DS, we both like Fredrick. However our last name is Franklin. We'd have DH's brother's name as a middle name which is Luke, so Fredrick Luke Franklin.

But I can't decide is Freddie Franklin is cruel?! we have Thomas George already and really like 'Tom and Fred' but I just can't decide on Freddie Franklin!?

Ooh difficult one. Could you use Alfred instead, so that he doesn't have to have an alliterative name if he doesn't want to?

I also know of a Freddie whose full name is Edward - maybe that's a possibility?

It's a bit too alliterative as both names start with 'Fr' but I wouldn't call it cruel unless there's something I'm missing.

I've never seen the Fredrick spelling though, it's usually Frederick.

Oooooh I like it, Fred Franklin sounds like some 1920s New York journalist or something. Fred Franklin, New York Post! But agree Frederick Franklin is a bit of a tongue twister so I like PPs suggestion of Alfred.

Frederick Franklin was a wonderful British ballet dancer and, I'm told, truly lovely person. I'd definitely be ok with having a child named after him!

I like a PP’s suggestion of Alfred Franklin rather than Frederick Franklin - that way you still get the nn Fred or Freddie. However with Luke as a middle name it does mean that the initials will spell ALF so a nn of the first name

I like it! I know a Benjamin Baxter* and it really works. I would spell it Frederick though.

I quite like alliterative names, but I think this one is hard to say, so I wouldn't go for it. As was said, I've never come across Fredrick before. Frederick is more usual, though there are variations of that as well.

I know a Freddie with a surname beginning with For- and it works fine, personally I like the alliteration.
