Honest opinions? Not Clayton! Just Clay smile

AsAProfessionalFekko Thu 14-Jun-18 17:23:25

Only if your surname is Potts.

GreatDuckCookery Thu 14-Jun-18 17:27:24

No sorry.

Flamingosnbears Thu 14-Jun-18 17:28:37

Why not Clayton? It's more substantial if that's the name you like.

mothertobe789 Thu 14-Jun-18 17:37:52

Because my surname ends with "ton" so clayton wouldnt go.

loobywench Thu 14-Jun-18 17:39:10

I don't like it sorry

ParellelReality Thu 14-Jun-18 17:40:22

I love it and it would be one of my boy names.

MrsApplepants Thu 14-Jun-18 17:40:38

Well if he grows up to be a model you could call him Modelling Clay

Blaablaablaa Thu 14-Jun-18 17:40:44

It's a word not a name

daisypond Thu 14-Jun-18 17:41:18

No. Feet of clay? It doesn't have a good image. There must be something earthy that is better.

MrsApplepants Thu 14-Jun-18 17:45:24

I don’t like it by the way. Clay reminds me of mud and for me conjures up an image of a rather dull and slow witted, heavy little boy

MikeUniformMike Thu 14-Jun-18 17:47:21

Cassius Clay. I think it's ok for that reason but isn't there a Clay Rooney?

WatcherintheRye Thu 14-Jun-18 17:49:13

It wouldn't be on my list, but I think that even unusual names which make some people throw up their hands in horror, always become the only name you could ever imagine that particular child having!

Flamingosnbears Thu 14-Jun-18 17:58:01

That's a fair enough reason not to use it, if that's the name you like go for it regardless of what other people think.

Fabricwitch Thu 14-Jun-18 18:08:17

Love it and hope to use it some day! It's one of the only names my husband and I both like

DeathByMascara Thu 14-Jun-18 18:09:51

Dreadful. Spent the whole two series of 13 Reasons Why querying the sanity of parents who decided Clay would be a good name.

StellaHeyStella Thu 14-Jun-18 18:12:33

Oh dear op, Clay is a euphemism for faeces where I'm from, sorry.

Clairetree1 Thu 14-Jun-18 18:15:50

Clay and Cley are old pagan names, referring to the burying of a dead sibling face down as a sacrifice to the earth, and naming subsequent babies after mud

TatianaLarina Thu 14-Jun-18 18:17:02

Hell no.

It would be fine if you lived in Idaho.

zeebeedee Thu 14-Jun-18 20:43:07

Have you been watching Sons of Anarchy?

DramaAlpaca Thu 14-Jun-18 20:44:19

Nope. It's awful.

AllyMcBeagle Thu 14-Jun-18 20:45:29

It's a bit too American for me tbh.

Unless you do live in the US, in which case go ahead.

thatsnotmynaame Thu 14-Jun-18 20:47:00

13 reasons why was my first thought

AgathaF Thu 14-Jun-18 20:51:08

It's a bit Rooney.
