Merredy

I met a girl with this name last week and thought it really pretty. I have heard Meredith before but not Merredy (not misheard it was written on a form she was handing in). Has anyone else heard of it?

It sounds like a mispronunciation of Melody, sorry.

Never heard of it before but I agree, it sounds like someone trying to say “melody” when drunk....

It’s not a name. Sounds like a confusion between Merry/Melody and Meredith. I’d avoid.

Sounds ridiculous tbh. Meredith or Melody are perfectly lovely names. Why would anyone go with Merredy?! It sounds liek something a pet would be named, but not a person. it's way too cutesy and made-up sounding.

My first thought was it sounds like a toddler can't quite say someone's name.
Don't like it at all.

It's Meredy.

Pink haired character from Fairy Tail (anime series my teenager is into!).

I don't like it, sorry. It sounds weird.

I’ve seen it before but spelled Meridee, which I think looks better. I’ve also seen Merrilee/Merrily.

Sounds like drunken melody.

Its either Melody or Merryn. WTF didn't they just pick one. Confused.
As pps havə pointed out. It's like a baby trying to say Melody

I love Meredith and Merryn.

Agree that Meredy sounds like a mega mix mish mash of Merryn and Melody and sort of like a made up name. That could be because I’ve never heard of it before - I think it could definitely grow on me!

It also sounds like a happier version of Verity though that could just be my accent and the way I pronounce it Grin

Pretty sure I've heard of Merridie before somewhere.

I wouldn’t use it but at my age am unlikely to need to! I just liked the sound of it and the girl herself 🙂

There’s an Australian actress called Merridy Eastman - I’ve always liked the sound of it.
