Victorian First and Middle Names

So, I've recently begun compiling a list of baby names for future reference and was wondering what your opinions were. I love the idea of pretty, girly Victorian names and would also require a middle name to match; currently thinking either Alice or Violet Belle, and a middle name to match. Any thoughts and/or suggestions? Thanks.

I love Emmeline, and I’d perhaps pair it with Kate. When I was at primary school we had a Victorian day with Victorian names, mine was Florence, which I loved!

I’ve done a lot of my family history and a lot of the later-Victorian names weren’t as pretty - from the 1880s I found a Madge, a Gladys and a Gertrude.

I remember having a Victorian Day at school too! Couldn't agree more, I'm much less a fan of the latter names, particularly Madge and Gertrude. I'm a huge fan of flower names too, and was looking at the names Queen Victoria gave her daughters (the royal seal of approval, if you will) and she had an Alice and a Beatrice which I love. My favorite book was Alice Through the Looking Glass which is where I get Alice from, and Violet from Downton Abbey :)

Thanks Sophronia, I love some of those name suggestions, especially Ada, but I was wondering; Ada or Ida? Alice or Violet, or perhaps for two girls; Alice and Althea?

I think Cecily is a very old English name.. Victorian or possibly older, am not sure. Love it though, such a pretty name!

My great grandmother's were all born in 1870s and 1880s. They were Jane, Mildred, Annie and Blanche. Louisa is a lovely Victorian name, as is Cecily.

Ida is a brilliant name. I met a child Ida recently, she was just fabulous and her name suited her perfectly.
