Baby names

There must be a name I like

Seriously... there must be a name I like, right? Looking for a boys name, can’t find any that I like. How hard can it be? I would love something not too traditional and with a nice meaning - anything nature or sea inspired is a bonus but to be honest, I just want one that I love! Names that I like but can’t use for one reason or another... Felix, Jasper, Cillian, Cole. I quite like Sterling but don’t love it. Help!!!

Bryn is ok. Maybe it’s unreasonable to think I have to LOVE a name. Maybe just a nice name is good enough. I just thought I would find a name I loved

Boys names are a pain, I hate most of them! I did find that downloading the ons name data for last year was really helpful for coming up with suggestions though. It's a spreadsheet with a few thousand names on in popularity order.

I think I might need to abandon the nature theme and just be broader as I’m too fussy for my own good

You'd be better off spelling it Stirling not Sterling, but if you are into currency there is Mark, Franc or the Welsh boy's name Euros.

In this situation the best thing to do is to think through your whole life - what names did you like 10/20 years ago? Have you ever heard a name and thought that’s nice when someone’s friend/sister called their child it? There’s already a name inside you that’s top runner.

I personally love Benjamin and Jonathan. But my friends couldn't agree any less haha
Such a difficult decision for such a permanent choice.

Thanks apples, the only name I’ve
Ever come across for a boy that I love is Cillian and I can’t use it. Before that I don’t ever recall hearing a name and loving it! Am now racking my brains!!!

Get a baby names book from the library. Consider how it goes with your surname.
Think of any possible shortenings/lengthenings, nn etc.

How about Paul?

OP I felt the same! I had a long thread a couple of weeks ago with some ridiculous stipulations and everyone laughed at me but I got loads of good suggestions. In case you want to nose:

Predictably we settled on Leo in the end Grin I did love Idris but it turns out DH does not. Never mind.
