Love the name Luna for a new baby but already have a Luca are they too similar??

chezmk1988 Wed 21-Mar-18 21:00:40

Yes too similar imo

SwedishEdith Wed 21-Mar-18 21:00:43

Yes.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar Wed 21-Mar-18 21:01:09

Of course.

MazDazzle Wed 21-Mar-18 21:01:30

Definitely!

Lucas?

Heratnumber7 Wed 21-Mar-18 21:01:31

Ditto. Yes

Not if they’re kittens. For human children, no. Don’t.

Oddish Wed 21-Mar-18 21:04:43

I would say not but I like matching names.

HamishTheTalkingCactus Wed 21-Mar-18 21:08:48

yes

I love them - but then I've got two with very similar names (and this is constantly commented on by friends, elderly aunts, the lady in the post office..). Lucas might be a good compromise - or just go with Luca, such a lovely name!

DramaAlpaca Wed 21-Mar-18 21:11:34

Much too similar.

renegadebehaviour Wed 21-Mar-18 21:12:07

Oops, sorry - just seen Luca is the one you already have! Love Luna too - how about Juno (similarish!)

tarheelbaby Wed 21-Mar-18 21:21:37

normally I would say no but somehow Luca and Luna sound quite sweet.

Plus, Luca (Luke/Lucius/Lucas) is 'light' - daylight - so Luna would be a clever opposite.

If you like the moon theme you could consider Artemis or Diana or even Cynthia - all names for the Greco-Roman moon/hunting/childbirth goddess.

RavenWings Wed 21-Mar-18 21:28:09

Nope, too similar imo.

Ivygarden Wed 21-Mar-18 21:29:36

Way too similar

EleanorXx Wed 21-Mar-18 21:37:09

Yes, both lovely names though

I know a Luca and Lucy sibset. Now that's close! Also a bit creepy now they're adults.

DarkRoomDarren Thu 22-Mar-18 05:07:48

Was going to suggest Juno.

I think they are too similar; not because it’s too matchy necessarily, but more because if you shouted up the stairs for one of them, surely they’d not know which one you wanted. You’d have to middle name them; “Luca James!” or “Luna Rose!”

Or you could just shout “boy” or “girl” grin. Ok, maybe not.

You will constantly be calling for one and getting the other. I know somebody who has a Maya and a Micah, and that's his main complaint. You'll also get people commenting on it. If neither of those things bothers you then I don't see the problem.

HuskyMcClusky Thu 22-Mar-18 05:13:02

Much too similar.

TurquoiseDress Thu 22-Mar-18 05:24:33

I love both the names but for siblings I think they are far too similar

BalloonFlowers Thu 22-Mar-18 05:27:45

I know a sibling pair with these names. Doesn't cause a problem, afaik.

Faintlinesquints Thu 22-Mar-18 05:32:46

Too similar imo, just one letter difference. I have a Zoë and really liked Zac for a boy but decided it was too similar (had another girl anyway)

Juno is lovely as mentioned above.

I was going to suggest Lyra but perhaps that's too close to Luca too. Similar names I can think of to Luna are Stella, Nova, Aria, Bella, Aurora.

I saw online someone had twin girls named Emma and Emily.. that's way too close I think.

I think they're lovely together!
