Thoughts on Enid

What do you think of Enid for a girl? I think it sounds strong and fits in well with the granny chic style around at the moment. It also makes me think I the author whose books I loved as a child.

Any thoughts? Do you know any?

I love it and would use it but my partner isn't as keen. He prefers Astrid.

FairiesVsPixies · 20/03/2018 16:19

I quite like it and its got to be due a comeback soon. Also loved Enid Blyton books.

AnyaMoondial · 20/03/2018 16:19

I've never met one but do really like it.

BiologyMatters · 20/03/2018 16:19

One of the ugliest names in existence. Enid blyton was horrifically racist as well. Not a great association for your daughter.

Zaya71 · 20/03/2018 16:19

I love it but my OH vetoed, there is a little Enid on our street and I'm still a bit jealous when I hear her name being called! (though Enid Blyton wasn't really a very nice person - or so I read!)

HelenaJustina · 20/03/2018 16:21

I like it. Makes me think of Mildred Hubble’s best friend in the Worst Witch series! DC3 is reading the books at the moment...

LastOneDancing · 20/03/2018 16:22

Honestly - I think of the cat from Hey Duggee.

I think it's great for a cat, but I'm not so keen for a little girl, to my ears it's a bit whiny.

Astrid is great knittingteapot!

pipilangstrumpf · 20/03/2018 16:23

I like it.

ChaosAndPiss · 20/03/2018 16:29

I love the name.

A little off topic but relevant and funny.

There are some people who think Enid Blyton's name is Gnid 😂😂😂

user1499786242 · 20/03/2018 16:40

Love it

demirose87 · 20/03/2018 16:43

Poor kid.

chezmk1988 · 20/03/2018 17:06

I like old fashioned 'Granny' names but I'm not keen on Enid. Prefer Edith.

pieceofpurplesky · 20/03/2018 17:10

Love it. Cool independent young woman in The Walking Dead

theunsure · 20/03/2018 17:13

It reminds me of the Worst Witch too (which I still watch aged 39 to my shame). I can't decide if I like it or not as somehow it conjures up an image of snails for me (I have weird word associations though).

But sod what other people think, if you like it - you like it.

FreezerBird · 20/03/2018 17:13

You'd be forever explaining (unless you're in Wales) but I prefer the Welsh pronunciation which is with a short E, so Enn-id rather than Ee-nid.

PeterRabbitEatingHisCarrot · 20/03/2018 17:14

It’s okay. A bit plain.

PuppyMonkey · 20/03/2018 17:15

It’s a no from me, don’t do it OP.

FluffyMcCloud · 20/03/2018 17:17

I love it! But my daughters have "granny chic" names Grin

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 20/03/2018 17:19

I love Enid.

Hotpinkangel19 · 20/03/2018 17:19

It looks ugly to me. Sorry

Pancakeflipper · 20/03/2018 17:22

I like it.
Wasnt the best friend of Elizabeth Wakefield in Sweet Valley High called Enid?

PuppyMonkey · 20/03/2018 17:25

It’s not granny chic, it’s on a par with Doreen or Beryl to me Confused

Enn-id or Ee-nid?

Ohyesiam · 20/03/2018 17:32

Ugly to me I’m afraid.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 20/03/2018 18:10

Good grief NO. It's ugly and harsh sounding.

What about Jean?
