I would pronounce Caoimhe as Queeva, not Keeva. It's one of those Irish names that varies in pronunciation in different parts of Ireland. It's a beautiful name but personally I'd steer clear unless you have Irish connections.

It's my boss's name and she says Queeva. I love it but also wouldn't put child through the stress of most people not knowing how to pronounce your name on first glance. Unless you're Irish and live in Ireland.

My friend's little girl is called Caoimhe, pronounced Keeva. I like it. She does have to spend a lot of time explaining how to pronounce it, or how it's spelled, but that's probably because most English people aren't familiar with Gaelic names.

I think accents should be taken into account - what sounds lovely with an Irish lilt can sound ugly with some English accents. s-t-r-e-t-c-hing sound out.

When choosing a name I saw it as how not to offend my ears with others pronouncing it as well as whether I liked it eg some names ugly with some accents: eg eeeeelaine, eeeeeevon, meeeeechelle , jewwwwwlie, rosheeeeeen.

I like Orla and Siobhan which don't seem to go too wrong with an English accent.

Fiona has Gaelic roots apparently so perfectly acceptable.

I pronounce Caoimhe as Kweeva, but either version is right. Don't call her Mairead or Fionnuala, they're very unfashionable names. It's like calling a child Shirley or Barbara.

I suggest Aifric, Alannah, Nessa, Riona, Roise, Liadan.

Well yes, even as simple as Orla is mangled by the English accent let alone Siobhan - just not as bad as some other names are pronounced - in my personal experience.

I have an Irish name and it lifts you when pronounced with Irish lilt (doesn't have to be the whole hog Irish accent, just a lilt - someone with an ear for the difference).

Most of the time sounds ugly though...

I think it's cool, and I really like it. But if neither you nor your partner are Irish and you don't live in Ireland I think it might sound a bit pretentious. Plus a lot of people outside of Ireland will struggle to spell & prounounce it. And, lovely name as it is, it always makes me think of Quavers.
