Is Blake for a girl okay? i know it's not to everyones taste but is it fine to use if you see what i mean? Thanks smile

Yes, I actually thought it was a girls name the first time I heard it. I now know one boy called it but still much prefer it for a girl. I really like it as a girls name.

I am guessing you may be way too young to remember the fabulous Blake's 7 series? Blake was a bloke in that one.

It’s a great name for a girl. I have one myself grin.

It's nice. I like gender neutral names, and it reminds me of Blake Lively who is gorgeous.

lilytup Fri 23-Feb-18 11:21:26

i think i like it because of Blake Lively too!

Willowwisp23 Fri 23-Feb-18 11:25:04

It is my dd2's middle name. Husband chose it due to his love of Blake7 (which I had never heard of)!

Jumblebee Fri 23-Feb-18 11:26:49

I love Blake for a girl (probably because I love Blake Lively grin)

Cosmoa Fri 23-Feb-18 12:11:18

Absolutely fine for a girl!

DPotter Fri 23-Feb-18 12:18:37

Sorry to dampen the mood - but to me it's a surname and I'm not keen on surnames as first names, and when they are OK I think they are more suitable as boys names, eg Jordan.
Another reason I cringe a little at Blake - 'On the Buses' there was a character called Blakey and I really don't like Blakey

pipilangstrumpf Fri 23-Feb-18 12:25:57

Blake sounds fine for a girl

Leksa Fri 23-Feb-18 12:30:38

Completely a boy's name or surname to me, sorry!

PutYourSlippersOn Fri 23-Feb-18 12:39:33

I would think Blake was a boy but it is a unisex name. Like you said, Blake Lively.

FrancisCrawford Fri 23-Feb-18 16:16:15

Either a boy or a surname

Strongly dislike it for a girl as it gives the impression parents wanted a boy and couldn’t be bothered to chose another name for their daughter

HonkyWonkWoman Fri 23-Feb-18 16:18:44

Blake - boys name.
Not a good name for a girl. Just imo.

mondler Fri 23-Feb-18 18:09:32

I think it works. Unisex names seem to be getting more popular in RL...

Annabelle4 Fri 23-Feb-18 18:11:46

I know a boy called Blake, but I think it's perfectly fine for a girl

HotCrossBunFight Fri 23-Feb-18 18:12:53

I think it's an ugly name

DramaAlpaca Fri 23-Feb-18 18:13:33

Boy's name or surname to me. I really don't like it for a girl.

But your baby, your choice.

Helpimfalling Fri 23-Feb-18 18:14:08

Love it

AuntieStella Fri 23-Feb-18 18:15:52

I'd expect a Blake to be a boy. Both the baby one I know in RL, and Julie Andrews' husband

Tors33 Fri 23-Feb-18 18:17:56

Love the name I called my lil boy it

toomanyweeds Fri 23-Feb-18 18:33:55

It's not to my taste (boy or girl) but absolutely fine to use for a girl if you like it.

Afternoon Fri 23-Feb-18 18:34:53

I think of it as a boys name or surname.

FartnissEverbeans Fri 23-Feb-18 20:45:54

I prefer it for a girl. It's a lovely name
