Baby names

DH and I cannot agree on boys name

He likes traditional, old fashioned names (Henry, Arthur, Aubrey etc) - I abhor them all. I like modern, European names but nothing too "out there". Detest all the currently popular names like Noah, Arlo etc (no offence!).

We are a French / Irish / Dutch / Italian / English mix. We have an Irish O'Surname so anything starting or ending in O is out. Or anything super Irish as a first name (which is a shame as i like many Irish boys names).

So far the only options we have are

Leon
Sebastien
Julien
Frédéric
Hunter (maybe too controversial, can't imagine our families liking it, or a baby being called that.., but we do both like it)

Help! I want a name that we both love? Any suggestions?

I vote Max. Could be just Max or short for Maxim or Maximilian (I prefer Maxim to French spelling of Maxime although that’s nice too).

I don’t really like the names on your list I’m afraid, apart from Sebastian / Sébastien (the subtly different Anglo / French spelling would bother me a bit though).

Have you looked at names from the Bible? They often work well in different European languages / cultures, and you could probably find a less common one that’s still acceptable to your DH in terms of being reasonably traditional (can’t get much more traditional than the Bible).

Hunter O'surname does have a nice flow when you say it though. If you both love the name then go for it!

Hunter is lovely (although it does remind me of Paranormal Activity!!)

I like them all except Hunter. But I wouldn't spell Frederick like you have. I say that as someone with a name which has been mis spelt a lot.
